For me, the attraction of this game is to watch your character get stronger the more you play. Unlocking abilities, items, etc. While it is theoretically possible to beat the game on the first try, most people are unable to accomplish that.

Also, I find the sound effect of critical hits satisfying.

A pulse pushing, heart pounding, adrenaline rush of a game...when you encounter others. Very much like the theme of the TV show, Walking Dead, it is not the zombies that you really have to worry about, it is other humans. Set in apocalyptic world where the towns and cities are deserted, this open world game may have a steep learning curve. While movement controls will be familiar to most, inventory handling is the largest learning curve.

Your goal is to survive. There really is no ending to this game. You just play to live. A 1st and 3rd person shooter, this game will reward you well for exploring and scavenging. This game is for the patient, intermediate to advanced first person shooter player. There is no map overlay and you spawn in places where you will have to figure out where you are by dead reckoning or by finding some landmark It is by all means a survival simulator, 1st/3rd person shooter, loot emphasis, zombie killing, PVP game with a fairly deep crafting system. I stress simulator. Hungry? Find some apples to eat. Create a garden to grow some vegatables (you'll have to find tools to till the land, then some seeds, add water). Want to eat a steak? Kill a cow, make sure you have a knife so you can carve out steaks. Grab an axe to chop firewood, create a firepit/campfire, cook the steaks (don't overcook), enjoy. Dying of thirst? Look for a well. Overheating? Go find a way to cool off, take off some heavy clothes, get yourself damp. Dying of cold? Start a fire (see above), find a heatpack. Broken a leg? Go craft a splint. Bleeding? Find some bandages, or tear up your clothes and create rags and use them as bandages. This is just the beginning of the crafting system and how it helps you.

Look for a weapon. It's tough to kill zombies (and other players) with just your fist. Be careful of shooting zombies with a firearm sans suppresor, it will only attract more zombies. Die? Well, your corpse now is lootable by anyone and all the gear you have may or may not be damaged beyond repair.

It is entirely up to you how you play the game with others. While some people you meet may be friendly, by in large, the majority of people you meet that you don't know already are wary of you and you should be of them. Sometimes other players will befriend you only to stab you in the back later. Other times it is every man for themselves. Solo players who play carefully can take out a 4 man team if behind cover and can shoot well.

The graphics are great, the sound of bullets is great too. There are ballistics involved in this game, but no interference by windage.

As of this writing, the game is still in development with features and changes released every few months.

This is not an easy game, but is a very rewarding one. I've spent hours just camping a well know looting spot to pick off players just for the hell of it. Sometimes I die, well, it allows me to restart and scavenge again. It doesn't take long to become fairly geared, but it does take some patience and luck. The deeper you go into the map, the better loot you will find.

This is a ground breaking game with many clones, this one is by far the best of the bunch.

Great game with lots of replayability. If you like a different twist on rogue-like games, this one will suck you in for hours on end. This game is a good example of easy to learn, but hard to master. Luck is definitely a factor and the RNG can definitely hurt or help you especially in the beginning. Deaths will be plenty, but winning is rewarding. There are lots of alternate ship unlocks which will ultimately change your tactics. A comprehensive game with RPG elements, this game is small in footprint, a great example of how a game can be great without all the modern graphics and hardware requirements your see today. This game will last the test of time.
