I have the special edition on CD, with sound track, so revisiting this game as the enhanced edition was of interest to me. Somehow, despite completing the Baldurs Gate series and expansions and Planescape torment, I was never able to complete this game. So I'm 20 hours through a new playthrough, all these years later, attempting to do just that. Yes the graphics are a little dated but somehow the game has lost none of its charm. Yes the game can be brutal - it is very challenging - but then that makes progression and success feel all the more sweeter. I would highly recommend this game to any Dungeons and Dragons fan.

I'm two levels into the sewers and my main fighter has been turned to stone, my rogue had to be moved to the front line and got battered to death, I'm low on spell points on my magician and my conjuror is out of them altogether. Time to head back!!

Brilliant, just brilliant.

Very original indie game. The controls take a bit of getting used to and as I'm not very at platformers I find them harder to master than most will, I expect. Good atmosphere and nice pixel graphics. Worth checking out.

It's a mobile game that was quickly converted for PC and it shows. Combat is not bad, the graphics are not bad, but what really lets it down is that the dungeon levels are somewhat long and uninspired. The UI is very consoley which seems a bit odd in a dungeon crawler like this. In all I would have to say that there are much better, and more innovative, dungeon crawlers out there if you look hard enough, so I'd recommend doing just that.

The graphics are great but unfortunately the combat is tedious. You know how slow the game is when you have to select an option to speed up walking around! There are some weird things that you expect as a PC gamer that just don't seem to work here, like pressing escape to bring up the main menu, because this was originally a mobile game. Ultimately this game doesn't have the fast paced adrenalin rush I want from a dungeon crawler, nor really the strategic depth you'd expect from a turn based game (e.g. the goldbox games), which when done right, are also excellent play experiences. Here all the animations are slow, there are unnecessary delays between combat rounds, a massive banner saying 'New Round' appears in your face while you sit and wait for the pointless thing to disappear. Sometimes you are told you are in combat and there is nobody there - you have to move to the enemy - yet now the keyboard controls for walking around have stopped working and you have to click a 'move around' icon. Nothing about combat really seems to 'flow' like it should do. If all you want is eye candy and a very, very, very slow paced game then this could be for you, but otherwise, I'd look elsewhere for something a more exciting and innovative.

As a complete beginner with Kanji I wasn't sure how quickly I would be able to learn it, but after playing the training game for a while I'm getting better. The game is really a series of tests for recognising the symbols and it does a good job of mixing things up and scoring the player on their performance. It's the scoring that really helps here because it gives an objective measure against which you can see your ability improving. That's what makes this a recommendation for anyone who wants to learn Kanji because you can take it at your own pace and see yourself improving the more you play.

Better in every way than the first game and especially in combat, this is a must get for any Dungeon Crawler fan. The only things that lets this game down is when it makes assumptions about party composition (you do need someone good at ranged/magic for one particular puzzle, so all fighter or rogue parties that use melee weapons are not a great idea even though the character creation would let you build them) and the final boss fight, which is not as bad as what the first game provided in this area. This is definitely one of the best dungeon crawlers and I would highly recommend it.

Quite why everybody in the reviews compares this game to Diablo 2 is beyond me. Did none of these people play Titan Quest? This is much closer to Titan Quest... and better too in pretty much everyway (and I like Titan Quest). A different, slightly more complex, experience than Diablo 3, it's effects are not quite as good (but then, what ARPG can boast better?) but the gameplay is great and the hours soon fly by. Also ... local coop! Great to see this still being supported in a modern game. Highly recommended.

I'm not sure what to make of this game. I like grid based dungeon crawlers (these are usually RPGs) and this game is quite different. It is atmospheric, there are puzzles and it is old school in that it won't hold your hand. It's not scared to kill you either. The engine feels quite simple, as does the game play, which is adequate. It's not Legend of Grimrock which has a lot of depth, though I haven't completed the game. In just half an hour it does feel like I've got quite far, being five floors down on my save and overcoming what could be the heart of the maze. I would recommend the game but I'm pretty sure this is not for everyone.

Not a great RPG and not great pinball; a strange mix of both genres. Constant story interruptions while playing the pinball also did a lot to put me off, unfortunately.
