Lode Runner Legacy is a modern adaptation of the classic Lode Runner. As such, it doesn't contain any of the additional items or gimmicks that were introduced in Presage Software's Lode Runner: The Legend Returns/Mad Monk's Revenge. What it does contain is the traditional Lode Runner gameplay with 3D voxel graphics, similar to what you would find in a game like 3D Dot Game Heroes or Voxatron.

The game contains an Adventure mode consisting of 50 levels, a Puzzle mode consisting of another 50 levels, and Classic mode which contains the original 150 levels with different 3D voxel graphics designed to simulate the look of the original game. As is always standard with Lode Runner games, it features a robust level editor with options for customizing the level size (Small, Medium, Large, X-Large), player sprite, enemy type, enemy sprite, item sprite, music, etc. There are also editors that allow you to create your own player, enemy and gold item models. All of these characters, items, and levels can be shared with the community through Steam Workshop integration, and you can also compete for high scores on all the various levels with the Leaderboards.

The major downside of this game is that the mouse hasn't been implemented very well and doesn't work properly with the menus, so until that's fixed you will find using the keyboard or a controller to be the easiest way to navigate around. Also, because the game is still new, there isn't a ton of content in the Workshop yet, but new stuff gets added every day and as more people get the game and create content for it, that will only improve.

Overall, if you're a Lode Runner fan, particularly of the classic style games, then this is the perfect game for you. The amount of content and customisation options alone make the $15.99 price definitely worth it.

Faithful re-creation of the original board game, and cross-platform multiplay. Definitely recommended.

Zelda-esque, twin-stick shooter/roguelike created by Edmund McMillen? I really shouldn't have to say anything else.
