the game is tough as nails, but it's so gratifying to keep trying and eventually get there.

the sprites/art, music, sound design, overall aesthetic are really pleasant and work together harmoniously. also i love ceroro's sense of humor and all of the easter eggs and side challenges.

gripes i have aren't really real complaints-- such as how there's no option to rebind controls. i use an external program to accomplish that. the game is difficult, but not unreasonable. it's advanced, but not unforgiving. my game experiences some weird frame drops very rarely, but i'm pretty sure that's a "my computer is cursed" problem. the game runs very smooth on my gaming pc with windows as well as my old, underpowered spare computer running linux.

a wonderful time. recommended for platformer fans who like a challenge.

In terms of Tetris(R) clones with original ideas, this one takes the cake.

This is the best Tetris game money can buy right now, and probably will be for at least a few years.

The game originally launched on PS4 with singleplayer only back in fall 2018. Since then it's gained ports to PC, Oculus Quest, and XBox, with a Switch version coming later this year, and multiplayer. I've amassed many hours across multiple versions.

I'll try to touch on what other reviews might not cover later, but the common stuff first. The game's main singleplayer mode, Journey, is fabulous. You play through 27 very pretty stages with their own music and sounds, drawing influence from all around the world. (I found out online that one of my favorite stages had drawn inspiration from the Indonesian folk style Gamelan, which I'd never heard of!) You also get the new Zone mechanic which I love. Then there's the secondary singleplayer, Effect Modes, to offer you what you expect in a Tetris game, and some bonuses. Relaxing Tetris, goofy Tetris, high speed Tetris, they've got you covered.

THEN, take the most aesthetically pleasing Tetris game ever, and put multiplayer on it. Full cross platform co-op and competitive makes this game truly transcendental. The co-op mode (Connected) is some of the best Tetris fun I've ever had, and has a difficulty range from "My grandpa could beat this if he learned the controls" to "Wow, I'm glad this is custom lobby only because this is absolutely the hardest challenge in a Tetris game." Zone Battle is your standard 1v1 versus mode, with the Zone from singleplayer, and it plays great. Score attack is a gravity survival and scoring challenge 1v1. Classic mode is like the NES game (CTWC) and is super faithful. Across the board, netcode is fabulous and the handling feels great.

Now, my favorite part. The developers (Enhance) have poured their hearts and souls into this, truly. Since the first multiplayer release they've been constantly fixing bugs and improving the experience. It's obvious they care so much about this game. QoL features include:

-graphics options to reduce possibly distracting particle effects
-graphics options to reduce possibly distracting motion
-controls options like IRS, IHS, and full rebind options
-AFK opponents in filled multiplayer lobbies get automatically removed from queue
-audio options to prevent or allow the game making sound while in the background
-spectator mode for private lobbies (blessing for tourneys et al)

Other details worth noting:
-Enhance did not expect anybody to surpass 20 lines in the Zone, so when Kirby703 did it, they named 21 "Kirbtris" in game
-Enhance hired world-class Tetris player greentea to help make the multiplayer
-If you remember bugs of the xbox launch, most of them are gone
-Enhance have a Discord server which is great to hang out in or find games
-Classic mode is NSTC by default, but there is a PAL option for custom games
-Enhance is always giving shout-outs to players posting clips on Twitter

My only gripes with this game are so minor and technical, if I tried to explain them, you'd probably get bored. (Impossible IHS lmao)

So, when I say this is the best Tetris game money can buy, I mean it. This game has everything, Enhance has really done a superb job, AND is continuing to support the game. I love this game's visuals. I love this game's soundtrack. I love this game's singleplayer. I love this game's multiplayer. I love this game's developers ♥.

Full recommendation to any Tetris fans. Recommendation to try for Tetris non-enthusiasts.

A simple and focused game that is hard to master, but easy to learn: that is Rocket League. Competitive mode is the highlight -- it will piss you off but also satisfy your need for glory. The Rumble addition a few months ago raised the casual game to a whole new level with powerups. Private games offer even crazier garbage with mutators like ball bounciness. The developers care about their users and are always improving the game.

I recommend this game. 61/63
