At the time of this review, I cannot recommend this one, as much as I'd like to. The worst part of it, is that the problems seem like pretty easy fixes and I hope they get resolved. Removing the screen shake and letting players set keybindings are my major gripes - fixing these would be enough to change my review.

To emphasize: the keybinding is pretty egregious. This kind of rapid gameplay is not conducive with how the buttons are set.

Spitz told me to leave a negative review and refund. His terms are acceptable.

I bought this during the 2019 Steam Summer sale and going to review from the sole position of the game in its current state. In terms of what states of the game has been in the past, I do not know so much as I simply can't be bothered to care.

Given that Battletech has been out for over a year, I'm fairly certain that Harebrained Schemes has absolutely no idea what they are doing. My main desktop can't load a save file without the game crashing. My laptop can't run missions without the game crashing when my mechs are moving. Between both AMD and Nvidia, obligatory driver tweaking did nothing noteworthy to fix the issues.

Needless to say, being able to play the game is more dependent on RNG than the gameplay itself.

I'm not sure if this all has to do with bugs with whatever expansions Harebrained has released or some other banal issue, as it is this game is an unplayable mess. I would not want to put in hundreds of hours into this, only to have an update or bug decide to destroy my progress in its entirety. Unless this game is somehow (hopefully) updated into something actually playable, avoid Battletech.

Oi, shout out to the Chinese authoritarian sheep that decided to whine incessantly about some imagined slights. I wouldn't of known about this game otherwise. I look forward to enjoying this over the weekend.

One of the best $60 single player experiences I've enjoyed in quite a while. I have yet to be the ♥♥♥♥♥ of the anti-cheat equivalent to the Spanish Inquisition that is burning players at the stake. So I guess that is a "plus". However, the netcode for multiplayer looks like it never made it past alpha testing. Makes playing with friends... well I can't. At all. Add another dev I'll be staying away from until they get their ♥♥♥♥ together.

$60 will get you...
-Crashes to desktop
-Good story with touch decisions along the way
-Random FPS drops
-Good crafting system with some Diablo item RNG for good measure (double-barrel M.I.R.V.? Oh God Yes!)
-Sick 980 SLI, too bad Fo4 won't run on more than one card (just as much love for Crossfire)
-Quazi-Minecraftish settlement system (love it or hate it, shops everywhere)
-no multi-monitor support, though Bethsada hasn't given a damn about un-16:9/10 since forever
-When I start a game I paid $60 it is reasonable to not expect the game to load into Windows 7 main menu instead of said games
-Bethesda makes great games
-We should not have to wait a year after release of said games to be even remotely stable
