I’ve had time to digest my thoughts a little more, so I figured I’d come to put my review out more fully.

This remake is disgusting to me. To someone who has loved this game for most of my adult life, having played OFF off of the Starmen forums before Toby Fox’s Undertale had even come out. I can force myself to get past the music itself, the original OST being absent from this remake due to ACC/Copyright issues. My issues are more than just the music. It’s the Undertale-ization of the interfaces and the presentation. It’s the inability for the game to keep new assets in their pants even long enough to hold back from soiling the first iconic encounter with the Burnt with subpar replacements. It’s the added tediousness of the gameplay.

If Mortis Ghost signed off on all of this personally, I can at best say that he’s George Lucas’d his own work. After all, it’s not uncommon where artists become dissatisfied with their older works and want to change them. At worst, he has signed out for a paycheck.

And the cherry on top of this, to me at any rate. The thing that most fuels my utter dislike and disdain for this disgusting attempt at a remaster of something so iconic that it would literally shape RPG Maker games for years to come is not the music, not the subpar art, not the fact that it’s become the imitator of the games it inspired for profit. What makes me hate this game to an almost unreasonable degree is the fact that this is the defacto definitive experience of OFF for the foreseeable future.

Yes, I am aware that Mortis Ghost himself has explicitly said that this was not the case. And much like many other artists, he fails to see the big picture.

This garbage is what has made it onto Steam.

This trash is what is easily accessible for anyone who has heard of OFF.

This filth is what people will find when they go looking for it.

This wasteful homunculus is what will be updated and futureproofed.

I hate this game and everything it stands for. I have a video out there buried in Youtube where you can literally hear the game breaking me.

If you like it, good for you. I am glad that you enjoy it. I’m happy you’re not a cynical idgit, that you're someone who doesn’t care about all of this nonsense. Enjoy it. I’ll just sit on my Not Recommended.

Keep the clowns coming. I'll be debating changing my Steam Ava for the first time in many years.
