hour 4: existential crisis. who am i without trophies? without quests? without the sweet, sweet validation of a victory screen? i opened other apps. none of them understand me. i even attempted to go outside. the graphics were impressive, yes, but the servers are STILL not back.

i have refreshed so many times that my phone probably thinks i’m trying to send an emergency signal in morse code. my screen time report is drafting a concerned email to my future self. i caught myself staring at the maintenance message like it’s going to change if i glare hard enough.
i considered reading a book. i held it. opened it. there were no power-ups. no skins. no ranked progression. just words. closed it immediately.
if this maintenance lasts any longer, i may be forced to develop personality traits unrelated to gaming.

⠀ it has now been over four hours since brawl stars went into maintenance, and i would like to formally announce that i am not handling it well.
when I first saw the maintenance break screen, I reacted with confidence. “nice,” i said. “probably a cool update.”
hour 1: mild inconvenience. i refreshed the app every 30 seconds like a victorian child waiting for a letter from the front lines.
hour 2: denial. was convinced my wifi was the issue. stood next to it for moral support. gave it a gentle pat. nothing..
hour 3: symptoms worsen. i started hearing the lobby music in my head. not just faintly. surround sound. Dolby Atmos. i walked into the kitchen and instinctively tried to dodge-roll around the counter. i referred to my dog as “low HP.” i ranked my family members by rarity. my sibling is definitely a bronze rank. my mom? pro rank. just let me in. please. i am not above begging.
