I'm not sure why the best game in this genre is free, but here we are.

I've played a lot of this genre and this is the most RNG based with the least variety of any I've played. Not worth the time.

I will say, the music (while repetitive) is my favorite in a long time. one song but I love it.

Edit - I did end up playing more, they added some new characters and I unlocked all the items. Ultimately had a run that lasted 30 mins, at which point the game was a slideshow haha (not a complaint really, I can accept that being the ultimate end of some games). It has some fun feeling elements, I hate that I have to give it a negative when I have gotten enjoyment out of it, it's just in a genre where so many games manage to turn repetition into a rewarding grind, the lack of -stuff- stands out.

I've been playing ARPGs for years, I still remember the day I installed d2 lod and my life changed on the spot. However, I can't claim to have been much a PoE1 player. I played the open beta and tried it many other times over the years but it never grabbed me. However when I heard a class I always love, the Druid would be in PoE2, I wanted to give it a try. I bought the cheapest pack and got to playing a poison ranger (pathfinder, ultimately)

This is my favorite arpg of all time at the moment. I upgraded to the largest supporter package which I've never done anything close to before. The ways they've changed things from poe1 are, for me, perfect. the combat is only a bit slower but it feels much more substantial to me. The skill system has the same creativity available in its structure but without the need to find proper links on proper gear to try things out. The passive tree is still massive but without the need to spend so many points on life just to survive (reminder that I mostly played poe1 early so I am not sure if that requirement remained later on)

I love it. I've given keys to strangers in the hopes they'll have as much fun as I'm having. I am excited for many years to come with this game.

Brilliant gameplay with an engrossing story. I honestly thought the positive reviews were just due to it being a blast to play from a mechanical perspective but the story is wonderful. Played it in 1 sitting and I'll never forget it.

A Link to the Past meets Shmup gameplay. Brilliant and fun, light on story but you'll find plenty of motivation from the satisfaction of the gameplay and the exploration. A game I truly think anyone can enjoy.

My favorite by far of the newish survivor genre. It feels odd to call it new because the gameplay is classic but the experience does feel fresh as well. I like what this game does more than any of the others and I've played almost double digits of the recent releases. Brotato was my previous pick but this tops even that one for me.

It might be because this feels the closest to playing an arpg where as the others have this new feel to them that's not really like much else. brotato is maybe smashtv. this is diablo 3 or poe, and while that's not my favorite diablo the fighting and action was never my issue. and this is that purified down to its essence. An absolutely fun time.

Very fun game, will be watching this developer and possibly paying for some of their other 'short but sweet' releases. This one is free, there's really zero reason not to play it. I completed it entirely in about 2.5 hours. Very satisfying, tight controls (barring one imo mistake, I don't even think the controls are unreactive I just think the mechanic for super jumps should be slightly different, as is it just felt unreliable... but this doesn't detract I just wanted to mention the single negative thought I had while playing). The humor is juvenile but it doesn't seem unaware so it works as far as I'm concerned.

a fun, challenging, and rewarding few hours for free. idk what else you could want to find next time you feel a little bored and nothing in your library sounds good (even with that backlog!)

Fun boss run type game. Your biggest complaint will be running back to levels (which takes all of ten seconds, but the action is so intense that it feels like a drag). Easily worth the price!
