I'll start off; I did NOT like Eternal. Based on reviews I saw, most Eternal fans didn't like this one. Well, I do like it so far. The parry and blocking mechanic is fun, and zipping around the battlefield with a shield charge is fun to me. The game isn't perfect by any means but I'm enjoying it a lot more than I expected after not even finishing Eternal. Probably the only Doom game I didn't complete in my life.

The only thing that irks me is I'm a bit of a completionist and the pacing of the game really dies when I'm hitting tab to check the map so I don't miss a secret. I may try playing through the game next time without ever doing that and seeing how it goes.

Some thoughts so far as someone crawling through slowly (since you can't run) and because it's too scary for me.

The movement is a little janky. Kind of hard to describe, but you have to wait for the character's feet to take individual steps. I wish it were a little smoother when I'm lining up to grab items. The game doesn't hold your hand. Looking at you engine 'puzzle' and others I'm sure I haven't reached yet.

The game reminds me of the movie Triangle meets Alien Isolation. I'm working up the courage to get through it, but they definitely nail the creepy factor!

Addicting game. Saw Asmon playing it on a video and knew it was right up my alley.

Fun game. Gives me those Alan Wake vibes. Got it for $2 on sale so well worth that little investment.

Amazing game. I just bought it a couple days ago and have already sunk in >13 hours on it. Each game feels new and different due to the RNG involved and it is challenging enough to feel very rewarding as you beat the campaign with each character. It's a lot like the latest single player adventures in Hearthstone where you keep adding onto your deck with each level, but this has a lot more depth. Extremely polished game, and I can't wait as the updates keep rolling in.

Ignore the 0.4 hours played--I have been in the closed beta from last year and just now switched from the Bethesda launcher to Steam. I picked up my play in March when they added the Instagib mode. The game has improved drastically from last year, where there were too many issues to list. I now have ~26 hours played now and counting rapidly from then. Probably more if I didn't have a newborn.

For some background, I've been playing Quake since I was 9 years old. I love Quake and consider it my favorite game of all time. Just like OG Quake players, I was concerned about the "Champions" aspect, special abilities, and generally just not re-skinning Quake 3 and calling it a day, but they've grown on me. At its core, this is a Quake game and if you have the mechanics, you're gonna frag. The abilities are pretty fun, and do add another level of strategy as well. With the stack adjustments, this isn't going to be like Overwatch where heroes have mismatches galore.

For a beta, it's pretty impressive already, and I have faith Bethesda knows what they're doing. As they add new modes such as CTF and Clan Arena, it can only get better.

Give this game a chance. Learn the nuances of strafe jumping. All I know, is it's the last of its kind basically, and I'm sick and tired of other FPS loadouts, reloading, slow gameplay, and weapon spread mechanics. This is a skill shooter, and nothing is more rewarding than seeing your hard work and time mastering core FPS mechanics and dominating matches.
