Ratko Mladić was an infamous Bosnian Serb military commander during the Bosnian War, widely known as one of the main architects of its worst atrocities. As commander of the Army of Republika Srpska, he led the brutal siege of Sarajevo and was directly responsible for the Srebrenica genocide in 1995. His actions made him one of the most notorious war criminals in Europe since World War II, and he was ultimately convicted of genocide, crimes against humanity, and war crimes, receiving a life sentence.
