I had just came off of playing prey 2017 and loving it, so its not to be taken lightly when i say this is my new gold standard for immersive sims and easily the best game I played in 2022. It has an unrivaled sense of freedom and creativity in its mechanics that make it much closer to a puzzle game than a shooter in the best way.

The ability to "jump" (not actually jumping in this game, but its the closest equivalent) is an optional upgrade that you can go through the game without ever getting. That's how ridiculous the level of freedom you have to create your own solutions gets.

If i had to give one critique, I'd say the game drags a little bit around the last quarter but its very minor and hardly sours my overall opinion on it. (I also got a little bit lost in one area which is probably the largest contributor to that feeling) It's only really notable because of how good the pacing was prior in introducing fresh scenarios constantly.

Don't go in expecting a Dirt game, go in with motorstorm on the mind. Turn off the in game music and blast a loud playlist of your choosing and you'll have yourself one of the funnest arcade offroad racers to come out in years.

This shouldn't have been a Dirt game, it should have been its own IP
