This is easily the best souls-like game not made by Fromsoft.

For some reason I always get sucked in to these insanely difficult rogue-likes and play the hell out of them until I hit a wall and give up in frustration. That definitely happened to me with the first Rogue Legacy, and it sort of happened with Rogue Legacy 2 for a while. However, the addition of the Architect, who locks the world so you can go back and get things you missed, made it so that I was *finally* able to beat the Lamech boss by focusing on that and nothing else. It's still an incredibly punishing game, but the new mechanics that change things up and help rebalance your playthroughs mean that I'm likely to keep plugging away for at least a while longer.

Like Hotline Miami and Mirror's Edge had a lovechild and gave it a samurai sword.

UPDATE: I did finally finish this game, but the last few levels gave me carpal tunnel.

I'm a fan of the Klei art style, and I like that this game combines deck-building with a story-line for each campaign. I haven't played a lot of deck-building games, but this one drew me in almost immediately.

I had trouble getting into the first two Darksiders games, but I really enjoyed the way the formula changed up for Darksiders III, and I actually also really like the changes in Genesis. It still feels like a Darksiders game, but it's convenient to have it broken up into chapters so you can play through one and then take a break.

For whatever reason, this is the first Darksiders game that clicked for me. I played a bit of the first game, but got stuck on a frustrating boss fight and never finished it. I've run into a few frustrating moments in the third game, but overall, it's a lot of fun, and I'm pretty close to finishing it.

This is a decently challenging puzzle game that feels like a less-clever version of Portal or The Talos Principle. Worth it if you can pick it up for a few bucks.

Bloody, weird, and really challenging in interesting ways.
