It is still worth playing this first even though Hades II exists. At the current date I'd even say 1 is still a little better than 2.

+Great controls both with Gamepad and Keyboard+Mouse.
+Satisfying combat.
+Great voice acting.

-It is slow to unlock things. First runs are a little meh because you're missing key upgrades. (Pretty much like in all roguelites.)
-I got tired of some of the enemies.

Great game. You think multiple turns ahead (like in Chess) and get rewarded for it.

It's worth checking out the 1v1 portion if you like RTS games. Don't play the single-player campaign yet, it needs more time in the oven.

The bulk of this pack is the Vanguard campaign. Since 1 (of 3) chapters are out, the first chapter would then be evaluated at $20. I would not recommend buying it for $5 even. The Vanguard campaign is not close at all to being as good as the WarCraft III or StarCraft II campaigns (which you should definitely play if you haven't). The characters, the missions or the story do not stand out much. It needs a lot of work. It doesn't make sense to me that they released these missions in this state (they could have started with just 1v1 and Co-op).

In the single player game menu there are no buttons to Save, Load or Restart Mission. There is just "Exit Game".

The performance is also quite bad (drops below 60 FPS a lot even on Low). For some reason it's worse in the campaign than on ladder. Especially due to the rain in mission 6, but also when you get close to 200+ supply in the other missions. This is the first game I've felt that my Intel 9700K CPU is now too old. I could play Elden Ring in 1440p on High with it though (Nvidia RTX 3080 GPU) so idk.

I don't care about the MTX.

A good co-op game to play with friends. It has at least a few solid stealth missions. I can't think of another game with co-op stealth.

It also has some solid combat if you do missions "loud".

It can get grindy trying to unlock items though.

I have now finished a run (Bandit - Drizzle difficulty) and I don't expect to be playing it any more. I have only tried single player (the thought of items being shared between players in co-op seem very unappealing to me).

It is not a bad game. The mouse and keyboard controls are solid. I didn't experience any bugs. ...but I did not really enjoy playing it so I cannot recommend it.

My main complaint is that the combat is not satisfying, and when that is the meat of the game, it's GG. The game IS challenging, but in my opinion it is challenging in the wrong way. Aiming is too easy: it's easy to hit every shot and there are no headshot/crit hitboxes. There is no rewarding feeling for hitting "sick shots". Instead enemies are often bullet sponges, especially as the timer increases (your run gets more difficult over time). The challenge instead lies in things like learning to dodge boss abilities and to manage your time (I guess - I'm no expert).

Also all the time, when you're fighting a boss or when you're selecting items to buy, enemies spawn around you and swarm you, and the timer ticks. There are no natural pauses in the game flow. As you also have to continuously shoot, that is a carpal tunnel/RSI inducing combination.

When selecting items, only an image of each item is displayed. I guess you are expected to memorize the items, and that that is another one of the game's challenges.

All in all, I think it's good that the the developers stick to their vision and create the game that they want. They did not want to make it too much of a shooter. Making a game that tries to please everybody will most likely just be bland and bad. However this means that this is not for me. The idea of a different FPS/3PS roguelike is still very appealing to me.

Having done two season of Fortnites Battle Passes and having a blast with them, I was excited that PUBG's new map was finally coming out, and that it had a challenge pass of its own! I was excited to play many hours of PUBG.

The problem is that the challenges are terrible. They are grindy and making the game less fun, instead of adding to the fun like the challenges do in Fortnite. It's a giant fail by PUBG Corp. and I feel life is just too short to do these challenges. Even though I have spent money on this and the challenges are time-gated I decided I was not going to do them.

Knowing this, having given my trust and my 9.99€ for this and feeling ripped off, I can't possible see myself playing the game in the future and enjoying it, and I'll probably uninstall PUBG forever once I need the SSD space for something else. This Event Pass was the nail in the coffin IMO. I guess Fortnite won.

What made me buy the game (or rather the Humble Monthly bundle containing the game) was this sentence in the description: "A co-op personality test about exploring an ancient, occult world in 5 days."

What they are referring to with the personality test is that your character gains traits based on conversation choices. Nothing more. The concept of a game testing a co-op relationship sounded great. This was not.

Also, I completed the game in under two hours (as Occultist). I even explored 100% of every area I went through. I'm underwhelmed by the amount of content and challenge. I googled to see if there were different bosses to find, but no, there is just the one...

Other games I would recommend over this
  1. Gauntlet - has similar combat style and co-op; has more reasonable difficulty levels and game length
  2. Rogue Legacy - the best rogue-lite game in my opinion
  3. Path of Exile - because the final boss felt like a much worse version of the Act V boss in PoE
