If you were a fan of the classic robot armada strategy Total Annihilation you will be right at home with Supreme Commander.

With land, Air and Sea battles, constant attacks, limited resources and vast battle grounds there is plenty of warfare to be had. At times the pace feels slow, particularly when setting up your initial base on a large map, however, when you find yourself being hammered by endless hordes of your opponents forces, almost in a panic trying to grind out a force good enough to repel the attacks, all the while desperately defending your resource production line, you will at times miss the slower pace of the base building phase.

The story is somewhat shallow and is really just a hook to guide you from world to world, ultimately leading to that all important end-game battle, but you didn’t come here for the story, did you?

Multiplayer is the most fun aspect of this game. It is even more enjoyable when you play locally and can hear your opponent scream and curse you when you expertly execute a fast air attack, taking out metal production and temporary shutting down his unit production. The matches can be long arduous events and occasionally the victor might be determined by someone giving in, rather than a skilful victory, but still there is much fun to be had, just choose the map according to the intended game time.

With all that said Supreme commander is a lot of fun and well worth your invested time and energy.
