I've only had a short bit of time with this game, but it's been enough for me to want to encourage those who are similar to me to give it a shot.

Generally what I look for in these types of settlement games is something fairly relaxed - something that I can jump into after a hard day and just watch a bunch of weird, miniature folk buzz around doing their thing as I stuff my face with snacks. I'm here to confirm: This is most definitely one of those games.

Its vibe, its humour and its general aesthetic style is so charming and welcoming; If you asked a child to draw an orc for your fridge, I'm almost positive it would look like one of the many variants of what's in store here and it marries so well with the dumb little conversations they have. It's beautifully simple, but gosh darnit, it works.

It also does some cool unique things, like allowing you to possess the leader and walk around on foot, exploring your settlement as if you were just one of the boys. You can also start conversations with your villagers or roaming travellers to ask them what they think of Barry, your severely wounded prisoner who tried to steal your cloth pants. I like that and you'll probably like that too.

So, go on - treat yourself; this is a good one.

Y'know what, there's something really special about this game. By no means is it going to blow your mind from an MMO feature-set point of view, but it's the closest you'll ever get to feeling like you've taken a few steps in Middle Earth.

The combination of folksy music, barren, but beautifully realistic vistas and Tolkien staples, such as Hobbits, Dwarves and Elves will absolutely sweep you away if you take a moment to breathe it all in. In a way, you might feel like you've already been here before; a familiarity that must come with knowing this world and these characters.

It's like having a hot mug of tea after being out in the rain.
