This game have potiential to be like Potion Craft, but instead is just .... lazy
Its way too slow, with very little activity, like 2 minigames and it really not grab my interest. Also no explanation on what to do (beside 3 very blurry pics). Is cute, but the cutiness lasted for the first 5 minutes.
Im disappointed because again, the idea is solid, the style id cute and this genre needs more game like this, but not this sorry.
Also the money system, is just lazy, just bet 25 on the darts, won everytime cause is a extremely easy click minigame, I buy everything in the shop in day 1, did the king quest and thats all..... really?
I will ask for a refound. Maybe if one day I see this game get an update, I will give this studio another chance.

Honeslty I wanna write a review for this game mostly for boost dev morale and up the overall score of the game.
This game is so darn funny, I love it way too much.
I come as someone who never played Paper Please and also never played the itch.io version, so Im not biased at all, neither Im bitter cause stuff changed from version to version.
I think people who complains dont really understand how videogames work and how compatibility works, no need to listen to them, in my opinion.

Yeah, this sgame have a couple of bugs, bug It take 5 min to find a workaround.
Like documents glitch on each other sometimes, just move the Identity card a bit on the side and yeah, problem solved, you welcome.
Im pretty sure a patch will come up to fix this problem eventually.
EDIT, yeah the dev release the patched 2.0.2 and 2.0.3 and now the move document glitch had been fixed, as I said :3

Campain is mega fun, my only complaint is that is a bit short, 5 days only, just when it start getting fun it ends. I also love the endings! When we will receive a Lore Update? XD
Nightmare is my favourite, characters are spot on, very funny and interesting references and the overall situation is very very cool. 10/10
I would love to have more Nightmare content, maybe even a campain?
I love the custom mode, is also extremely cool to play with, will be even more cool if we can do a bit more custom stuff (like datas) and generally upload our building to the workshop, just for have fun with the community.
Also I would like to have a Dopple maker or a Nightmare maker. Again, the horror stuff is too much funt to play with.

Also the clown game is so much funnier then the Itch version (I watch Mark play in YT a coupleof times lol), I had a blast trying to 2-0 the dude, I let him draw cards and I overplay him so well, he never come back after that XD
And thanks for add it as game mode, will be cool to have more that2/3 rounds to play.

Love the achievement hunting, I would love to have a faster way to farm wanted poster, cause very soon I will finish campain for the last time, and since I also already have the arcade achievmenent theres no good enough reason to continue play endlessly.
Unless someone adds an endless mode lol
That would give me a good enough reason to farm posters, I have like 7 out of 32

In general, the game is clean, fun, spooky and engaging, also highly replayable and full of easter eggs. It also runs fine, what I actually expect from a point and click anyway.
Also it costs close to nothing, yeah, I also got it in discount so Double win I guess.

I had a blast playing this game. Its an experience, from the gameplay to the story.

GAMEPLAY

Gameplay wise is very relaxing, you clean some red splats, put forniture in its place, drop garbage in garbage lol and all the cool stuff what you imagine. I love when my garbage bags merge together to create a huge garbage bag. Its like Viscera but less stressful, in Viscera you footstep blood everywhere, you trip your bucket every 5 senconds and you try fix a bullet hole and you end up with making it bigger. Here everything is much more easy to do. Yes, you can footstep blood, its like 4 new stains not like 10000, you can trip the bucket but only if you really not careful and you can break things but they not make a huge mess.

STORY
Possible spoilers, read with cautions!
Story wise, this game makes sense. Your daughter is very sick, need thousands of money of treatment and you broke. One day your friend (better to say your friend's son) Tyler calls you and say he made a mess and need your help, and you will get a nice amount of money. We go, do the cleaning and got like 2-3k, better than our paycheck. Later the mob boss of the city calls you and you hired, for life. There is no escape to Big Jim's grip. And this is proven in the second mission, if you nt answer his call. He owns you in every way possible and he pass you around like a scrub daddy, and you cannot refuse. Yes the pay is high, but with every mission you lost more and more of your morality. How many bodies you need to drop in your trunk before lost yourself?
Some missions, specially "Toxic love" hits extremely hard, when I opened the bathroom door I was crying, and later "I'm ready to die" starts play and I got shivers in my back. In that moment I understood I was not playing just a cleaning simulator, things got serious.
Another mission what really stuck with me was go clean Tyler appartment, I really start cry and when I see the positive pregnancy test I just lost it.
Its different from what I expected, I was thing we just go clean some crime scenes where some thugs from one clan go kill other thugs from another clan. NO ITS NOT.
We go clean where a guy go kill another guy family because this guy go in bed with his wife, and this crazy thug just go and kill the other man wife, daughter and son. No i was not read to clean dead teenagers. Or I was not ready to clean a good girl from the street cause she was working in the wrong pizzeria and I was not ready to clean the body of a guy who just finished uni cause his mother though thim and the house was possessed from demons just cause a rich bast*rd though to scare them to buy and sell their house.
I liked this game, in every moment, it just hit me very very hard, emotionally.

OST
I need to take a moment to say how much the OST contribute to the deepness of this game, of how much every track hit hard, some made me cry, some made me smile and some just scared the crap out of me, and I loved them so much that I bought the OST just to listen them everyday I want. And I also push it as best OST in the Steam awards. Its just too much good to be ignored.

2025 - Edit

I submitted this game to Labour of love after the Nightmare update and the Community updates, both very high level updates, rich of story, and memories, some maps really gave me chills and not just "spooky" chills.
I admit I cried at the nightmare map of Tyler apartment .
This game continues to be of the highest quality and is getting constant updates and patches. Still my favourite game of the genre!!

Neverlooted Dungeon is an Amazing game, and yes, it deserves the capital "A." ND takes every aspect I loved from various games like Arx, Dishonored, Prey, Thief, Dark Messiah, and even Underworld Ascendant, mixes them all together, and makes it much, much better.

It presents itself with a 1-2 hour long demo, the most hooking and addicting demo I've ever played in my entire life. After I jumped over the bridge in the very beginning, I was already deeply in love with the concept, the artwork, the physics, and basically everything else about it!

I think my playtime speaks for me. I have played this demo multiple times over the past two years, and I never get tired of it. There is always a new idea to try, a new crazy project to start. From Halloween to Christmas makeovers, to bunker building, to just messing around with blood and such, there is always something new and cool to try. The demo is constantly updated with new mechanics the developer adds, so we always have the opportunity to test out what the developer is cooking!

ND not only offers crazy realistic physics, but we can also move things literally with our hands/mouse. We can open and close doors and chests, and move boxes like we are literally grabbing them. We can climb up basically everywhere; there are no limits to player mobility, no invisible walls; nothing can stop us. If we see a place, we can climb there somehow. It doesn't matter if we need to stack up 20 boxes; we will reach whatever point in the map. What we see, we can go to.

I think one of my favorite moments was when I tried for about 20 minutes straight to steal a bench from the chapel and got stuck in the door (for obvious reasons). It's a very silly memory, but I had so many good laughs about it. It's not an achievement by any means, but for me, it was mind-blowing to have the freedom to move furniture around, and that was the beginning of my crazier experiments. On the first day I installed the demo, I played three or four times. The first time, I just won; later, I tried hard to get all the trophies and coins. Later, I took a walk, and while walking, I couldn't stop thinking about ND. I was like, "What if I do this?" "What if I do that?" From 2 hours of playtime, I had like 10 in no time. Later, the developer put a contest in the Discord, and I Halloween-decorated the dungeon with Jack-o'-lanterns, candles, mushrooms, etc. I was basically playing House Flipper in there. I had good laughs and good screenshots, and my emotions over the years have not changed at all. I still love playing House Flipper in ND. ;P

The game is also full of secrets and, of course, full of deadly traps that are not only deadly but also extremely fun to play with at our own risk. :) Secrets are so highly satisfying to find; if you think "what if there is something up there?" or "what if there is something down there?" there probably is something! And every discovery feels so good!

Another aspect that I immediately fell in love with is the humor. I love the funny item names and the very "spooky" signs all around the place, not to mention the arrows pointing to the treasure and so on. All these details always make me crack a smile. And this doesn't detract from how tense and serious this game can be. Some moments are very serious, some are extremely hilarious, and this is the good part of this game. Sometimes I just like to join and goof around, play with fire and corpses, and paint with blood, literally like any normal person would do. ;P

At other times, I go hard with challenges, from being a "legendary looter" to "trying not to die," to speedrunning, to "kick only," etc. There are so many possible challenges, almost infinite possibilities.

Another thing I very much enjoy is the simple yet beautiful graphics. It makes things much easier to find and recognize, it doesn't kill my PC, and more importantly, it is just cool to look at.

I very proudly see this game grow and change over the years. I see a lot of mechanics and enemies added, I see how the locations changed and all the new areas added, and with every new update comes something even more outstanding than the previous update. I have never awaited a release like I await ND because I really want to see this gem (which I helped to make bug-free) be admired and loved by other people.

I think I have never harassed people as much as I have to get them to play this game. From friends to streamers, nothing stops me from making people play this game because I need them to see what I see. I'm the type of person who, if I have a good time with something, needs to share it with everyone. Afterall I'm here writing a review for make people play this demo!

I could legit talk about this game for 24 hours straight and still find new stuff to say, lol, but I'd better wrap it up for now!

Also, a very honorable mention: the game is developed by a one-man army dev. A single person is capable of making a game better than 80% of AAA games out there. ;P

Early Access Review
I think it is time to write a review of this game. I will be fast and precise to not waste any more time on this thing.
This game is go bad every update, since long time, but what is even more bad is the community, this let me slowly hate this game and let it go to rot. I'm more sad for the money that I've wasted on it anyways.
Also, if you really need to buy this game, stay away from the toxic and offensive community.
If someone want buy this game, wait 3-4 years until, they will, maybe, release a final version, or just search another game, there are better anywhere.
This is the last time I want to hear about this game, and even write something about it.
So, my final advice is to not waste any time on this thing, and just go search something else. The eraly access is work for other games, but not for this one, since devs don't give a s..t about people who play, they just do what they need to sell, if you already buy - your problem.
Keep this in mind.

Honeslty this game is a big NO. I don't know how to classify it, I want to recommend it - no.
The only things I can say is “if you really want, buy it in discount, please” because otherwhise is not worth it at all.
PRICE
Starting with the price, 6€ for this is just too much, considering that a team requires 2 copies... just no.
The gameplay is one hour or a bit more, and techically what in my opinion takes more time is the coop mechanics, since the communication is infinitely long.
I personally choose to play it all by myself, yes, alone, (following some steam guide) because for me this type of coop is a big NO.
COOP
I'm not againist coop, I'm againist at how Devs implement it in this game for three reasons:
  1. You should have a teammate, and you cannot refuse to (steam guide solved this issue for me), this exclusively is kinda boring for me; I would like to see an option to do myself, like normal games do.
  2. You should have a teammate, “if you cannot we will assign you one” (yes, like American movies), basically they just suggest you to find one on the Discord. Just NO. This game require 100% communication between the two people that “spoiler alert” they will bond the souls in the end game, so NO, I don't want do it with a stranger. The relationship between the two player is important, better communication leads to a better game, so I don't want a stranger. (Mostly because I don't want rage quit because someone doesn't understand how I explain things)
  3. Above this two points, the coop is just bad implemented. The player with the Cubic Device do nothing above than write a couple of codes and talk full time. The player in the Room instead do always all the job and the funny stuff.
    An example:
Player A (Cubic device): Ok, you ready, we need a bone. (Patiently sitting and waiting for answer)
Player B (Room): Ok, I search for the key, find the altar, open the bone shelf, take the open mouth stuff, open the coffin...
Player A: I watch the screen for tooth, say me when you ready
That's all the game. Player A watch the screen waiting that player B do the cool stuff. That's boring.... (and unfair)
ENIGMS
Above the coop, the enigms are easy and repetetive, main part of the game is repeat same actions, write tons of codes with letters or colored arrows, and none of them is actual challenging, speaking about challenges like we had in games like Roots (where the last enigm is somehow a mistery to me) or Paradise or The cave, or and specially Paradox.
ENGINE
Another thing that makes the Devs proud is the waited change of engine, switching from Flash to Unity, but to be honest the difference to me is minimal. Unity is an engine that can do wonderful things if used correctly, I see games that implemented a real phisic or build and entire planet, here the “great” change is that we have a 3D box and we can use mouse wheel for go back.... Sorry, for me is no difference at all, learn to programm in Unity, please.
Also, the Room made a better management using the right mouse for the “go back” movement, that, for me, is better to do. Speaking of the Room, I think it was their inital plan do something like this iconic game, but miserable failed. The Room keep the interest on the box extremely hight for full time. Here the Cubic Device is boring, sorry but true, also 40% of times the “great” 3D box bug and I have troble to move the Device....
Letting me trying to resurrect it by clicking everywhere or restarting the game (that this will make you lost the progress if you play in singleplayer)
CONCLUSIONS
Everything have great potential, but nothing is real developed. The story is new, and as always innovative, the cube inside the cube, memory in the memory blow my mind, I cannot lie, and it's very interesting topic, also Albert is one of my favourite character in-game, so I'm happy I had the opportunity to have some more infos, but even they story can be improved. Of all the gameplay, we not have much info to theorize, that's the best part of the game.
Above the gameplay, the enigms, the mechanics, the negine, the coop, what should stay in the mind is this wonderful story, that here is good, is very good, but 70% developed, in my opinion.
Little side note, I choose to keep and not refound the game, for the achievements, but to be honest, is not a so good choice, the achivements, that I wanted to proudly showcase on my profile are just black and white undistinguishible scribbles... All other games have the matching achievements in color and frame, here not.... WHY?
Also thanks for let me spend €3,59 without giving me a single bagde. WHY?
Why everything in this game is just so poorly developed, I dont' understand... 2,5 years for this...
I've lost part of my faith in you, Rusty Lake.
For end, I'm sorry Rusty Lake, this game is a big flop for me, and if I can use a Golden Cube I would go back in time and don't buy this game again, at this state is not worth it.

Davvero super consigliato!
