Hell Incarnate.
Bro and I embraced the masochism that is Amur. After michigan we did a little Alaska and a little Taymyr then skipped straight to Amur. Just to get out of the first region I think took us a collective 40 hours. No modded trucks, all vanilla. Some of our favourite memories come from Amur, and now every other map will be compared to it as we thank the o gracious devs for sparing our souls with each new expansion.
There is a complaint to see in the comments that most trucks physically cannot play this map, and they are correct. To an extent I wouldn't expect every truck to make it through Amur but to have some of our heaviest hitters humbled to scrap was discouraging. Would like to see maybe a rebalance of some of the old trucks. But through this rigid cold there is a truck born in this purgatory wasteland that shrugs off the horrors of its world.
Once you get the Zikz 605R you won't want to use another truck. The Zikz is bottom heavy and wider than most so it's less likely to roll. It's fuel efficient never exceeding 11L/minute, it can house a fuel/repair rack on the top of itself that would make a service truck blush, and while it will slow down in the thickest of mud and snow there are few locations even in Amur that will stop the Zikz dead in its tracks.
Ultimately I liked Amur. If you like doing contract missions instead of tasks this is a good one. Personally I just like to accept a mission in the menu and get going instead of driving out to location just to accept it and go. Also not a whole lot of "deliver vehicle" missions, just cargo.

for some reason it didn't track my hours right, first playthrough took about 10hours
what can I say, it's good. My only complaint would be the gunplay feels very floaty but that's probably just a side effect of the physical arms, kill em.

was fun back in 2016, but recently tried it in VR, so this review is for VR only.

personally I had to turn off some of the camera effects because it gave me motion sickness. was perfect after I did this.

If you have megalophobia but not debilitatingly so you should try this just for the anxiety it will cause. The gameplay takes a bit to learn but it's a blast. Similar to Blame in regards to most of the environments.

The music is also bopping, if you're into EDM might be worth giving it a listen.

surprisingly fun. Simple mechanics and it does a fair bit with them. A few levels can only be completed by trial and error, but the majority of levels give you all the information you need. Music is good too.
Only problem is there's no action-queueing so it makes some of the challenges incredibly difficult

It’s good. I didn’t understand how the game was gonna play and so I created a generic “tank” to play. The problem is there is one skill to obtain enemy aggro in this game and you have to purchase it at the start of the game. I don’t usually buy items in games so as you can imagine I missed this my first playthrough.

There is one other major problem that almost ruined this game for me. The AI will usually try to go for the weakest member of your team by default. After a while I came to the realization that I would have to put heavy armor on my other teammates and my “tank” would just have to be near naked. This worked actually, enemies would prioritize my “tank” more frequently now.

I still consider this a major shame. When it comes to party-based games the holy trinity of tank, healer, and damage dealer is a tried and tested method. It’s fun to have a tank that can control the flow of the enemy, it makes it easier to create strategies based on that. So removing the feature by default was a real blow for me. The low armor workaround was fine though.

Past this, I took the red prince as a two-handed fighter, ifan as a long-range crossbowman, and beast as my magic caster.

You’ll notice a slight problem here. I didn’t have a healer. I assumed that potions or beast could take care of it but I warn you now that is not the case. Ifan eventually obtained a healing spell, but it was always half of what a potion could do so I rarely used it.

The red prince was my pack mule as inventory capacity is tied to strength, and melee damage is tied to strength. It wasn’t until hour 35ish that he started performing really well. You should note this if you want to do physical DPS.

Ifan was my consistent single target DPS character for most of the game, but by the end of the game, everyone could do similar damage. Ifan still was useful though.

Beast was my most powerful DPS character overall. Plenty of single-target spells that do a load of DPS. There’s also a ton of AoE spells, which is very useful as you’ll normally be outnumbered in a fight.

So note this; physical DPS kinda sucks. It can be dodged and usually focuses on one enemy at a time. The DPS is almost always underperformed by magic as well.

After having played the game there’s another thing to note: tanks wouldn’t really work in this game. There are so many AoE spells and environmental hazards in the game that everyone will be taking damage eventually. It’s more important to have healing abilities than it is to have a tank. Even so, I would have liked the option to provoke more enemies than a small AoE, especially would have enjoyed having more defensive skills that could work on my allies.

Finally, choices don’t really matter but it’s a game of little texts, little stories that ultimately do tie into the main story even if they rarely interact with it. I wouldn’t say choices seemed to matter beyond “do the quest” or “don’t do the quest” though I’ll admit there are plenty of options in the game to interact with the quests. It’s just the dialogue is there for fluff and flavor.

All the quests are fine and some are great. My main complaint with the questing system is that it feels like you have to do every quest you can. I played the definitive edition instead of classic (a choice in the launcher for these) and after completing the game I’ve read that the exp is nerfed from classic. This is a shame because while I went into the game with the intention of doing as many side quests as I could I was hoping to become overpowered by the end of the game. Instead, I was always about the level I should have been, never more than a level higher or lower than the activity I was doing.

tl;dr
The game is great, but it certainly isn’t what I expected. There are something that I would have liked to see changed but ultimately it’s nothing that breaks the game for me.
Except for the final boss.
