I loved Skyrim the first time round, so this redux of the graphics makes what already was a pretty game into a stunning one! Although at first glance their seems to be very few changes other than the graphics, don't be fooled- quite a lot of small changes have cleaned up the game nicely.
I'm already 20 hours into my first play through and will no doubt enjoy many more! Enjoy revisiting the world and remember to stop and take in that marvelous scenery.

Ok to all the reviewers who have complained that this game is not free to play - please fully read the game description ... which states "Two huntable species (Mule Deer, Cottontail Rabbit, European Rabbit), a weapon (.243 Bolt-Action Rifle) and a bunch of additional equipment are available for free when first entering the game. Additional items such as weapons, species licenses and ammo can be acquired with gm$, the in-game currency that can be earned through play, or em$, the in-game currency that can be earned through winning competitions or purchase for real money. " No game is ever truly "free to play", the company must somehow recompense the capital they have put into developing and/ or running a game - usually there are shops where you can buy premium goods for real money and/ or a subscription model that allows more full access to features - theHunter is no different!

For free you can hunt mule deer all day long on one reserve ... yes, there are other animals on this reserve which you are unable to hunt without a license however, if you complete the mule deer missions you will quickly start earning gm$ (the in-game currency) with which you can buy licenses for the other animals ... my advise would be if you want to play this game for free then focus on mule deer missions earn some gm$, then buy licenses for 1 species at a time & do as many missions for those as possible.

If however, you can afford to subscribe (which is actually very reasonable), you will be free to hunt whatever you wish as long as you are able to hunt the species with the weapon you have! I and a number of friends have played many, many hours on this game & we continue to love it!

For me personally I would give the game 9/10 - it is something that I initially downloaded to troll a friend who played, and upon playing I totally fell in love with it & now have a higher Hunter score :P

Early Access Review
After over 600 hours of gameplay, I still really love this game. The last couple of builds have seen vast improvements and in my opinion have made the game much more fun. The latest build (Alpha 15) introduced a trading system which I feel has brought an exciting new element to the game. The zombie AI is now cleaner than ever before and the skill system (introduced in an earlier build) both makes for a more rewarding game play - though I feel early game is fairly hard as you will start off with very basic equipment.

If you haven't played for a while I would recommend playing again and if you have not purchased it then let me say if you enjoy a game where you can collect everything, upgrade or build everything (the possibilities are almost endless) while staving off the angry horde of the undead then definitely give 7 Days to Die a go.

Original Review (back in 2014): Gritty, edgy zombie action with destructables & crafting - whats not to love really? As with any Early Access games there are teething problems but in my opinion this game is fun & has plenty of potential.
