Early Access Review
Come for the story of TF1? Don't - there isn't any. Its shameful and lackluster that starts strong, builds, and ends too soon.

I only recommend for fun survival games with your friends but to be honest, you're going to have to wait to get difficulty and immersion experienced in TF1

I hate this game. Its a poorly written, optimized, glitchy mess. Bethesda took the aging Fallout 4 engine and slapped a new label on it with few extra assets.

Sadly, I will keep playing this game because I love Fallout as a series and lore behind it. However, I hate myself every second of it.

Pros:
Its Fallout. It has vaults and Fallout feel. They did try to weave intricate web of lore that keeps players coming back.

It also has freaking large map.

Cons:
I could go on and on about the cons. However, I will try to highlight some key points that grind my gears.

The story is trash. The "robot" and "holotape" main story centricity just doesn't feel like Fallout. EVERY excuse for a human voice is "if you are hearing this I am dead". Not even in a fallout will someone be so morbid. Then their fixes to their "no human npc" mess makes it feel like it all-in-all was a poorly implemented bandaid. It does not blend in well with the crappy story they contrived in the first place. None of the characters are memorable and not someone I will smile back on. Atleast Fallout 4 had that!

The authenticity of it is about as bad as the story. Bethesda further broke many canons and it feels like they are trying to cram as much as they can leaving plot holes and issues. One of which many will notice is BoS being in East so early. The buildings are obvious copy and pasted from Fallout 4. The housing styles are inaccurate. Also, someone who frequents West Virginia and rural Kentucky - it just doesn't give the vibe. It just feels like devs thought the only identifying feature was mountains and coal (though this is not far off). However I digress so I do not feel like some nerd in glasses saying "well actually".

The game engine is poorly optimized, leaving those on 2K monitor and a 3080ti barely pushing 40 FPS. (Luckily if you do some googling you may can boost it to 70 if you go fullscreen)

Did I mention its glitchy? Just look on Youtube. There is not a second where something is flying across the map, an animation not running, a camera locking, missions become stuck, doors do not accept your entry, etc etc. I could go on. The only answer is to leave the server and join another.

I do not think they properly implemented an online FPS. I get it, its hard. However, dead on frontal shots should not be missing.

Having a large map, you need fast travel. However fast travel is money based. Great but in my experience aloting money and managing all the travel and other expenses - it becomes a headache.

you buy this game not for the mediocre story. you're gonna be doing one thing, and one thing only: killing nazis! (and of course the stealth challnege) otherwise don't waste your time and money.

Game is great if you can ignore the poop-tier driving mechanics.

Story is catchy and combat isn't too easy. There is more than one way to solve a problem; you can either go in gun blazing or extremely stealthy (Much like Dishonored and Thief). You're not invincible, and you must remember that.

Only real problem is that speed based driving missions will test your patience.
