Early Access Review
Updating this to recommend. The early game is really rough. The combat stinks but the game really opens up after you finish the first few story missions. If it looks good to you, give it a shot because the cool parts are very cool and the worst parts can likely be fixed with future updates.

Negative reviews are nuts. This is a little clunky for a demo but combat is that good, good mix of feeling over-powered, flying around, flashy, punchy combos. Not much of a difficulty curve yet but if they only add more and refine it, it's a day 1 for me.

Wowzers, decided to go in blind without watching or reading anything just to get my own impression. Couldn't even get through the first game. The pace is absolutely glacial. Battle starts > "You have some time to reinforce" > Shield goes down > "You have some time to collect materials" WHAT? The shield breaker thing is like the first interesting thing that happens in the game and it's like the fourth step of a match. Why would you do this? Start the game there, get people shooting each other as soon as possible. Why they decide to do anything else, baffling.

Aesthetically, this game is boring. Guns are boring. Increased rarity is just minor to moderate increases in fire rate/capacity/etc. Max rarity is generally your gun does one additional shot or full auto. Absolutely inspired. Everything feels like an Overwatch clone that came out 10 years ago.

Nothing else to say really, every part of this game was geared to give you the most mediocre to disappointing first impression possible. There might be something salvageable here but with how negative the reputation is already, I would say doubtful. Best of luck to the devs on their next game.

42 hours in I feel like I can give this a review. The people are correct, this is a remarkable game, with a few caveats. Depending on the type of player you are and the clips or videos that you've seen that made you want to get into this game, this might just be the first multiplayer/co-op game that is more fun solo.

There are 3 matchmaking "modes" that are available and I'm sure this is subject to change as player counts fluctuate. Queue solo, you'll be vs. solos; duos vs. duos; trios vs. trios. Solo is amazing. If you love camaraderie, casual looting and questing, joking on comms, and the very occasional PvP experience, it's the best. Duos is a balance but it's definitely still on the casual side of things with a bit of PvP zest thrown in. Trios...you might be able to guess. Vast majority of players kill on sight and it's not uncommon to find whole teams ratting a high value loot spot. Communication is very rare, I barely even hear people use emotes. Trying to initiate comms with another team is just stupid as you're only giving your position away. 3rd parties appear very often in fights.

So, something for everyone right? Kind of. Only bummer part to this is if you play solo and love it and get one of your friends into it, you get into duos. Have a tougher time but still enjoyable. Get a third friend into it? Tryhard nightmare. It's a beautiful game. It's a good game. It has excellent enemy design and AI. It has a relatively deep crafting and progression loop. It does however vary greatly in terms of difficulty and playstyle and the variable that determines that is not based on how experienced or talented you are but on how many friends you want to play with. In my opinion, that takes away from the spirit of the game.

I've spent most of my time in solos and duos so my overall feeling on the game is positive by a vast majority but I can see how someone playing solely trios might not feel that way.

Also, ♥♥♥♥ the AI voices. Embark, you've made plenty of money on The Finals and now this game is selling like hotcakes. PAY. YOUR. ACTORS.

With the trend among roguelikes and ARPG's seeming to be innovating on existing ideas as much as possible, it's very easy to forget that just reiterating an existing genre and doing it really, really well tends to work really, really well. This game gets it in spades. Scratches just about every itch I have to play isometric action roguelikes. This is what sticking with an idea and executing it well looks like. Just my take on the demo but wow, it's incredibly deep for a demo as far as unlocks and progression are concerned. Official release is a day 1 buy for me.

Pretty good, cute little game that does exactly what the title says. I'm recommending but I couldn't finish it. Word to wise, if you get nauseous from disorientation, when you get down past a certain level it can be very hard to tell which way is up and it made me feel pretty sick.

The game is really fun. It's a great take on the Balatro formula with enough quirks to make it unique and enough creative paths to make it infinitely replayable.

Edited on 8/27/24. Removing former complaints as the developers have addressed them all. Game is great!

Coney said something along the lines of: This doesn't feel like a game that was in beta for a year. It feels like a game starting from square 1." I think that really sums it up. I had originally sworn off FTP/Live service games for 2024 and I broke it for the release of Multiversus because I loved the beta so much. Boy how I wish I hadn't. Really feels like they took literally all of the wrong lessons from the beta. People love the feel of the combat? Make it slower and heavier. People love the monetization model? Add 4 currency types and a sluggish season pass. People are begging for competitive mode? Add the most dull PvE modes possible and STILL don't add competitive.

Seriously, was no one in the board meetings screaming, "WTF are you guys doing?!" It's an accomplishment to fumble the bag this badly. Not putting too much faith in this being fixed to an enjoyable state either. Cross compatibility ensures that updates will take an eternity to come out due to each console needing to approve each update every time. RIP to 200+ hours down the drain.

It took me 13 hours to realize I wasn't having fun. Like, ANY fun. I guess that says something. There are just so many little minutia that seem geared to just make you walk back and forth. It's a tower defense, rogue-lite where YOU have to defend the towers and every level is randomly generated... but I dare you to tell me the difference. I'm serious, I spent time thinking about it and you could make is so enemies can't kill turrets and the game would only become more fun. It's just there to make you run across the map and slap the thing because apparently there's no fun reason to do that. Weird. The rogue-lite genre is so over-saturated with games, many of which are amazing. Just go play something else.

Plays like a film tie-in cash grab game. Do not buy this
