Boring. Sounds like SEGA in 90s. Animations, physics, ragdolls and sprites like from HalfLife 1. One of the worst net codes I've ever seen. Graphics - back to late 00s. Maps are unbalanced, weapons are made from cardboard. Gunplay is awful.

In total: that trash would be good 20 years ago. Nowadays it can't pretend to be called AAA product, I think it even can't be called a game. It's a guide how NOT to do games. It's the time i want a refund for free game, so developers shall pay me for wasted time.

Well, how hard I loved X3 series - so hard I hate X4 game.

I've bought the game on release, played near 2 hours, went messes with not working just EVERYTHING and let it be long long time utill the end of 2021, 4.10 patch. Well, devs fixed a lot of stuff, but the most frustrating - still not.
  • Lot of ppl talking here about friendly AI and they are fkin right so hard: it looks like AI algorithm just random choosing who to smash with hull, not anything else any conditions
  • performance and optimisation missing optimisation: tried to play on my old i7-7700HK + GTX 1070 mobile - had amazing bad performance.... But after setting new rig with ryzen 5800x + 3080Ti literally changed NOTHING!!! Still was good if I had stable 40 FPS with always 1% and 0.1% low about 1-2 fps, deep freezes, long asset loads, amazing bad textures ( I guess for game made in 2018 and later having such visuals is just a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ on clients face for SUCH a price). Any visuals configs (which are presented by 6 or 7 options) are doing literally nothing, no option to speed up game, which is using like 5% of cpu and 10% of gpu ( guess so much even for wqhd render). U may say "and what's the problem?"... And the problem is that game CAN'T utilise ur pc resources and for a biig fleets/stations fights u have old good turned-based strategy game real-time with good-to-have 5-10 FPS
  • turrets still broken. Some may shoot 2x over it's capabilities, some can't use 20% of it. Still it doesn't give a ♥♥♥♥ about changing targeting config. Still good to have much more extended way to config targeting orders (like class lists, type lists etc)
  • AI capital ships and stations are sometimes amazing (i'd say broken) good with it's real DPS, range and accuracy, while having such ships/modules by ur own side making it 2-6 times weaker. Nuff said.
  • Modules and rig balance has never visited that game.
  • very poor collision mechanics, often broken: u can "stick" or "stuck" in other object or just go deep into it ( few times managed to be "swallowed" by station while was driving capital ship )
  • superways and rings makes ur fps dive deep AF every time. No matter of any conditions. Just look at them.
  • reputation broken up: often u can't get ♥♥♥♥♥ after buying licensed - u need to save/load to make modules/recipes/hulls available. Sometimes even that reecipe not working and u need to load earlier game and buy licenses so many times as it's needed them to start working. Also farming rep is a fking korean style grinding. And loosing it just one sec after shooting down random "enemy" ship. Taking bad standing to neutral or higher - is a very hard story, pretending to be a miracle.
  • autopilot (path finding) is slow and buggy as a century-ago dead turtle. What does it mean for u? All AI controlled ships movements are far-far away from optimal and sometimes they are managing to stuck in objects or just avoid starting moving for reason being too close to massive objects.
  • mods... I love mods, but enabling it for X4 was one of most painful things I've ever done: restarting game like 40 times just to make it FIND AND LOAD workshop installed mods.... Well, played without it...

In total... Game pretending to be something, but after 3+ years of post-release development it doesn't go much better, still like alpha/beta stage for full price without any alert of it. DLC pricing upsets too, as quality of contend is kinda same: ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ of bugs and glitches.
I loved X series before i got X4. X3 is much better, u don't even need to remind urself like "well, it's good for 14 y.o. game". No, it's still MUCH MUCH BETTER as it WORKS how u EXPECT IT TO WORK. Without fighting bugs, configs, ghosts, developers vision and etc.

Shall u buy it? NO. Only if u see 75%+ sale offer. It doesn't cost its price even for 50% sale. U don't have to endorse ♥♥♥♥ quality and low development standards.

To be clear that game has no opportunity to survive if any big GameDev studio will do battle royale game (and it wont be such cartoon as Unreal engine copyright holders do). Why? It's really easy to detect even first 2 hours of playing. Let's go:
1. System:
a) there are tons of hate reviews about game perfomance by itself here and across the net. Here is NO perfomance at all, when your 1070 burning down on MINIMAL settings and showing cap of 60 stable fps. Sorry, BF1 on ultras showing me 40 stable. Thats unacceptable.
b) Unreal engine... Dunno, using it to create a game is like to build house using only ♥♥♥♥. The WORST open engine that can be picked. CryEngine 5 that is completele free and optimised for FPS games? Never. No one.
c) Servers are like founded on the end of Solar system. Desyncs, lags, server crashes, unexpected logouts and etc. Looks like infinite high-load test on community.
d) Memory leaks. Vast and heavy. Even video memory leaks. That's the first time i see such ♥♥♥♥.
2. Game itself:
a) Loving to stuck in textures? Buy that game, you will do it nearly every game, mostly in doors.
b) 75 meteres grass distance visible. Further - plain and vast ground and you can see anyone going through that 2 miles field, where 50% of games ending.
c) Plane routes are hilarious: 80% of them starting on Sosnovka and held like on 15-20 degrees of vertical.
d) Awfully hilarious is too see how people flying without anything drawing, Sometimes u just cant see anyone jumping near u in that case.
e) Footsteps and engine sounds are even more hilarious. in 50% of situatios u will hear them only went dead. Rinning through field and got road killed with accidental ghost-car-with-no-engine-sound? It's normal, dont get rid on it.
f) Windows, ladders, doors and other covers shooting mechanics makes people cry with bloody tears. Shotguns can't through any railing and bars at all. Don't ven try.
g) Developers can't read wiki about weapon or maybe just rent the weapon to shoot from it. VSS is 9x19mm and glock is 9x18mm. That's completely different ammo type. BTW: if VSS would be such ♥♥♥♥ weapon as it's done here - it would has never beed taken to Soviet army and Special forces. And extended mag on KRISS Vector is 30 rounds. FFS
h) Parachute landings near buildings are very random. U even can lag and teleport 1-2km away from landing place. Damage from falling 1m from parachute when u can jump from 3-floor house and take no damage makes me really sick.
i) Damage system is trully random. As defence items system.
j) aiming system on 3pp is a ♥♥♥♥. Delete opportunity to aim without looking down the sight and game will be much more harder and interesting.
k,l,m and etc.) I barely can continue that list to the end of times. I can't recommend that game to anyone while it's in such ill state. Looking on update logs makes me think that there is only one developer in studio. And just my opinion: that game wont survive.


That was part of pre-reliese. Now reliese.
a) New map. Ok, got it, new map. Vast, low textured, bug-to-run. They've addeded rocks everywhere and u still will die in textures. I don't like it at all. It's boring. Amazing boring. Give me opportunity to choose what map (attention!!!) OF MY GOD TWO - NEVER. So i'll continue lobby fapping enter-exit game as many ppl already do. I dont like it, but devs don't give me a chance to do what i exactly want to.
b) Engine. Again. Yes. Blueballs tried to do some optimisation, though, tell me: if u let monkey control nuclear plant - wont it fkin blow at the end? Ur car stopped to 0 and u want to leave it? yes, please. Ovverun by ur own vehicle not even moved a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ pixel! Or god bless u to stop on hill: always wanted to feel myself Yuri Gagarin, flying upon those nerds far-far away under my legs.
c) Parachuting system still broken. And it feels like it went even MORE broken that it was.
d) 3.5.7.7 patch - release. Fps on mids - 80; 3.5.7.10 patch now - 38 fps on mids. "We are looking for further perfomance optimisation" they said. Sound like another politician trying to get ur money for doing nothing. Real world shows the truth.
e) U hit the guy standin 10 meters strait of u 7 times? U saw every blood fontaing of his ass looting another dead body? And then he accidantly turning over and 2 bullets u within 9mm gun in 3 tier helmet? Hi, watch the replay, u will be surprised that only 3 of u bullets were counted. Of 7. Yes, server refresh rate seems. Or ♥♥♥♥♥♥ engine. Even dunno.
f) Cheaters. Here are tons of posts about cheaters. Played 5 games for the morning, 2 of them ended like: WOW THAT GUY CAN SEE THROUGH TEXTURES. AND EVEN SHOOT! Nuff said.
g) The most annoyng ♥♥♥♥ abouut that game. MOST. Its fps game. And it's still can't handle dolby sound. 5.1, 7.1 - nope. Strict stereo with backing 90-degree dead zone. It looks like dev team working on sound is ♥♥♥♥♥♥ deaf. Once more: U CAN'T HEAR ANY ♥♥♥♥ BEHIND. ANY. ♥♥♥♥. BEHIND. Thats fkin awesome.

Finishing word: maybe 2-3 years later that game will be good. Now it's hilarious, ass-burning and monkeys-written piece of crap.
