First of all, the game is stunning. However ONLY when you are completely still and have post processing turned on. The graphics unfortunately fall apart in motion. All of this can be attributed to how reliant UE5 has become on temporal shaders and effects. For instance; if another player runs past your field of view, a massive super-bright blurry trail will persist in your view for about a second and light up the background environment in classic UE5 fashion. The specular highlights on several metal surfaces are also - in a similar fashion - flickery. It's a damned shame how big of a drawback it is for immersion. Would have loved to see this game in Source 2.

The core gameplay loop is like Slender: The Eight Pages, just in a backgrooms setting with more variety. A monster chases you while you collect 8 tapes or turn on 6 generators, etc.

It actually kept our attention for the better part of an hour and a half, but the level 2 with the magnetic doors and fuses was a little too chaotic in its procedural nature. We died a few times, which was exciting. But the map was sometimes so ridiculous that it became a parkour map because there were holes absolutely everywhere when you progressed long enough into the level. And the monsters became impossible to juke because they camped the very space we had to traverse.

If you aren't very critical of graphics on a technical level, you might just not care that it's a blurry and flickery mess. And while we were a duo, I think it might shine more with 4 players. I'll give it a very hesitant positive review, especially because of how active the developers seem to be and it being a fairly positive community.

looks great, runs, great, but crashed constantly. switched between 4K, 1080p, and 720p to see if I was doing something wrong. fresh restart with no background tasks it crashed regardless. temps were fine, CPU and GPU util was fine. i'll try again in a year. refunded in the meantime.

My computer has NEVER blue screened before. This demo made me blue screen twice in a row. I was considering getting the full game, but after this, I don't know.

Terrible gun handling, unintuitive map design, inaccurate combat physics, and poor VR controls.

absolutely horrid community. minges, teamkillers, and sad little nerds. disable chat and try to have fun.

I play it solely for multiplayer, and its just not stable enough in that regard. Crashes everytime I play, no matter if I'm the host or not. I have a beefy computer, as well.
It worsened after full release

I've played Garry's Mod for far over 2000 hours, and never bothered to play the game it stems from. What a lovely game and story. Looking forward to episode 1, 2 and alyx. Hard to believe this game is from 2004.
