This game has a lot going for it, from visuals, to game play, to ghost events.

The game is still early access, but feels polished enough that it could be "released". The tools are good, unique and have a nice visual style to them. Although the ESG and easel can be finicky, the developers have said they were going to buff these for better chances of them occuring.

Ghosts are frightening, and vary in design enough that you often say "OH ♥♥♥♥" as they come after you. It's also terrifying to see a ghost running full speed after a hunter. The game does a great job of creating an atmosphere that feels freaky/spooky and with enough ghost events to scare you.

Jump scares are great, they do their job and keep you on your toes. They vary so much in what they can do, that you'll probably need to buy an extra couple of underwear as you'll be ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ in them when they get you good.

Can't wait to see what the developers do with the game, as of right now, the $15 price tag is a no brainer.

Game looks great visually, and the story and tie ins are also good for this style of game. The bugs and issues though, are what really hold this game back.

The story line isn't anything spectacular, and within 5 hours into the game I'm about half way there. Well, was. Get into that later.

The ability to edit items, and their look with patterns and colors is great. Lots of options, but the painting aspect is lacking. The colors are separated into categories that don't really make sense. Also, combining wall patterns AND then painting over them isn't something that is explained but rather figured out after mistakingly thinking painting over it would just reset the wall color. Also, most designs are super modern, with no way to basically keep that classy 40s style, and infact, part of the missions later on is to redo the full hotel into a modern theme. I get it, "Hotel Renovator! IT SAYS RENOVATE" yes, but you cannot "renovate" that old style.

The chicken mini games are fun and quirky, but at the same time, there's no tie in to it other than just something random. It's fun and makes me smirk when it happens, but nothing to make it feel cohesive.

The bugs and issues are the big spotlight. After 5 hours into the game, and after 1 patch, the save game file was "reset" and all upgrades were lost. Storyline stayed at the same spot, but the vacuum and sledge upgrades were gone, as well as the front desk upgrade. Both are locked behind the "Progress in story" message, but those are unlocked from PREVIOUS story events, so no way to go back and restart at a previous point. This is extremely frustrating as it seems it wasn't the file getting corrupt, but an issue with resetting the upgrade path from a patch.

Only two options 1) Figure out a way to edit the save game file (It's an SQLite 3 file, that is EXTREMELY packed and not well organized) or 2) Restart from the beginning and dedicate another 5 hours to get to the SAME point to hopefully not have to do it again.

There is a sandbox mode, so that may be the only option at this point I'm willing to do.

Can I recommend the game? No. This is not something I'd expect from a "Fully Released" game, but being that the industry is "fully releasing" games before they are actually ready, means it's something we have to get used to.

This is a good game where you can just relax. You can do your campaign enough to build up funds and just start building and restoring cars, or you can run a repair shop if you want.
