Is it as good as the Mass Effect trilogy? No. Is it a great standalone game? Absolutely. The combat system is far superior to any of the original ME games and is immensely satisfying. The graphics are stunning. The exploration and sets are awe inspiring. The story is decent to good. A lot of the quests are annoying back and forth fetch quest, but the open world was done pretty well. My biggest issue is the performance issues. 14700k and a 3080 and I have to run 80% resolution scale to get a mid 50s framerate. Lots of stutters too. Very frustrating for an eight year old game.

The original trilogy is a masterpiece. The Legendary Edition just makes it prettier and a bit smoother, without really taking anything away from the originals. It's far from perfect, and not a true "remaster." Lots of the graphical improvements do not apply to everything; rather they pretty up 80% of things in the game, leaving some ugly bits remaining. However this does mean you get to enjoy the trilogy the way it was meant to be enjoyed at launch, jank and all. It's absolutely worth buying, includes a bunch of the original DLC, and mostly runs well.
