Ok, so, I be fair. I have currently played 226 hours of this game and have no plans of stopping, but purely because it’s the only non-manager focused soccer game out there. It’s not good, by any means.
The gameplay is pretty standard, uninventive, and boring. I haven’t played a fifa game consistently since World Cup 98, yet after a few seasons I was comfortable on legendary mode. The ai is pretty horrid which tanks most of the gameplay, otherwise it could be decent fun.
But here is the capstone to my “would not recommend” rating…
Scripting.
Hot topic, I know, but just the same. After over 200 hours in the game I can say that anyone who doesn’t believe scripting exists in this game is a complete buffoon.
Now, if EA admitted scripting was a part of the game then I’d be able to say I recommend this game and that I simply disagree with the decision to include that, but EA had even put their senior developers on the stand under oath to proclaim that scripting does not exist in any of their games. Meanwhile, I am playing a game with a score 17-3 and in the 90th minute the opposing team suddenly batters my defense and the game ends 17-9. Clearly didn’t cause an issue for me but the fact that this scenario can even occur while the company claims they did not include scripting in the game is absolutely preposterous.
The real issue becomes there is no way to make the game consistently enjoyable. You either win games by a landslide, or you ALWAYS lose the random scripted game, usually a playoff or final. So you have the choice, play a boring ass difficulty? Or never win a cup.

Do you like being bored and confused? Do you like receiving in-game instructions that are flat-out wrong and consulting google instead of just playing? Do you like building things and watching items you place randomly move, costing you resources and creating nothing? Do you like aimlessly wandering while having to gather resources constantly so you don’t die?
You do?
Well then play this horrible game.

(Note: I’ll continue playing a short while longer and update if the experience improves)

Early Access Review
Crashes constantly. Uses crazy amounts of memory. Randomly remains running as a process in the background after you've killed the app, using up lots of resources. For a simple click-game that plays itself, this should be way better.

For those interested this was played on a Macbook Pro 15", 2.5 Ghz Intel Core i7, 16GB 1600 MHz DDR3 RAM, GeForce GT750M 2GB. Clearly not a high-end gaming machine but definitely should be good enough for a simple game such as this.

** Also of note, the crashes mentioned happen when the game is starting up fairly consistency, never once it is actually running.
** Can run Rocket League with no issues on medium to high settings

It's fun and addictive, but poorly made.

FTL surprised me with its flexibility, difficulty, and overall enjoyment level. I ended up buying this game on sale based on some reviews that I watched and soon decided that it would have definitely been worth paying full-price for. Additionally, they came out with a mobile version of the game that is just as great.

First, the world is constantly changing. I've played through the campaign several times now and never had a similar playthrough. There are times when you cruise through space without meeting much resistance and feel invincible, only to hit a solid wall of enemies that instantly end your game. There are also times where you're constantly blocked at every door and have to fight your way through. Both situations are rewarding in their own way, as well as all situations that fall in between.

Ships are diverse and relatively easy to unlock. They are not given to you for nothing which leaves you with a feeling of accomplishment, but they are very attainable if you want to put in the time.

I have been playing this game on and off for several months and have come nowhere close to beating it. Perhaps this speaks to my inability to master the game, but I like to think that it is difficult enough to keep me challenged in a world where games have switched to a method of instant-gratification. I never become frustrated enough to quit, but i'm not cruising through the game feeling invincible either.

Be prepared to spend lots of time gripping your arm rests as you worry that the next shot through your shields will be the one that ends it all!
