I use trigger_hurt (brush-based entity) to kill people most of the time. There are also alternatives, however this is the easiest way to manage player health (it can heal, hurt, and kill)

use a func_door with 9999 blocking damage, and have the door set to move down. Also enable 'Force Closed', and then go into flags, and uncheck 'Touch Opens'
