I may be 6 years late Lawrence, but I get it now.

If you enjoyed the base game, this is well worth your money. You might come out angry at the scary sections, but it's only gotten better in my mind since. Overcome the unknown.

There are so many concepts in gaming that we take for granted. We've ingrained these moments into our minds so the next time will never feel as good as the first. Outer Wilds takes this idea to another planet. What do you do in an unfamiliar world? Where do you go? In the original mario bros, the screen does not scroll left, and so when you go right and gradually see the obstacles appear before you, you learn that going right will lead to the end of the level. Outer Wilds replicates that same feeling of conquering the unknown. There are no tutorials or markers that tell you where to go next. It's up to you to find out -- whenever that is. Only once you unravel the mystery does your purpose become clear. Then, when all is done, you can't go back because you can't forget what you've learnt. Information is key, and why it's so hard to convince people to play this game because you can't reveal anything without impacting the experience.

For me, the enjoyment is twofold. The first is playing the game itself and the second is watching others play it. Every person will have a different playthrough. I might not be able to experience those same feelings again, but watching someone conjure the most insane theory because they're missing the full picture is incredibly entertaining. Additionally, clues that are obvious in retrospect can be absolutely unfathomable to the new player. The only downside to this game is that it takes a while for the game to hook you because you feel so lost and frustrated at the start (and moreso if you're an indecisive mfer that can't pick which restaurant to go for dinner). But that's exactly how it's meant to be. And with everything in life, it takes time.
