An interesting variant on the open-world-survival genre with a mission-based progression system. Plenty to do, even in the base game. Pretty graphics, complex but not overwhelming game mechanics and a good way of making the grinding fun.

Early Access Review
I mean it's not finished yet but if you like your Planet Crafting with a touch of Satisfactory, this is the game for you.

A great addition to the RTS genre, lots of variety very slickly packaged and you might learn some actual history while you play.

I really enjoyed this game. I'd summarise it as "Subnautica, but in Space, without much Terror and with a lot more cheezy Humour".

This isn't a game without it's flaws. Unlike the superlative (first!) Subnautica there were a couple of points where I wouldn't have progressed without Looking Up The Next Step On The Internet, so the signposting could be improved. Unlike a lot of survival / exploration / story games there's more of an emphasis on having fun(?) expressed via the means of *lots* of "cosmetic" pickups and what amounts to a fairly basic sense of humour.

I did like the shift in mechanics that occurs via the mechanism of the chapters (no spoilers here but you'll find a more detailed explanation on t'internet if you go looking), and I got decent sense of closure from the main game (...although there's an obvious sequel hook there waiting to be picked up...). The DLC didn't do much for me as it leans heavily into the very-early-game mechanic which I found (personally) a bit frantic/rushed and not so fun as once the game and achievements develop.

"What if I crossed Minecraft with a bit of Factorio, threw in a pinch of Halo and set it all in a fully-destructable environment?".

Space Engineer's learning curve is steep, but do try and persist. Once you're confident enough to build your first base everything else will slide in. A great way to spend hours and hours on some really quite satisfying resource gathering, base building, ship building and exploring and I haven't even got to the combat yet myself.

If you like South Park (and in particular that style and level of humour), then there's nothing to stop you enjoying this whatever your gaming tastes.

Fundamentally this is a Puzzle game but there's a lot of walking and exploring involved too. It's also strongly inflected with Horror elements, some of the situations I've been in so far are extremely good at creating a suspenseful, tense atmosphere without needing to resort to cheap jump-scare tricks. The story is good, and is revealed in a natural manner although it's more linear than you might think.

On the downside I'm not sure how much replay value there is in this - if you know the story and the ending (I'm not there yet but I have a feeling I'm close!) I'm not sure what I'd get out of a replay. But I've certainly enjoyed the ride so far on this first playthrough.

It's just more of the same but with everything turned up to 11. The Superpower mechanics are a great addition and minigames are just different enough from previous Saint's Row games to keep the interest up. The plot and the humour are well over-the-top - it's not what one would call a "subtle" game.

Excellent world-building, great gameplay options (especially the fast-travel to avoid tedious repetition of cross-country travel), interesting plot. If you like GTA and you liked the Mad Max films, this one's a no brainer.
