Early Access Review
If Tarkov was fun, it would be this game. Still feels hardcore because your loadout and ship are always on the line when you load in, but without the meticulous and monotonous realism. Very good for a laugh with friends, and solo play is still very viable and profitable. Suffers from a low player count that I would like to see improve.

To start off, yes, I think you should buy this game. At the time of this review, it's $25, and I think it is worth every bit of that. If you can get it on sale, it's a no-brainer. Here is why:

Story Mode: The story mode drops you off in the middle of the jungle after a short tutorial, and you are pretty much left to figure things out on your own. This is the strongest part of the game to me. Figuring out how to survive different scenarios such as getting parasites from eating with dirty hands, treating snakebites, and dealing with infections without the game explicitly spelling out how to do each of those things makes it an extremely rewarding experience. The jungle is the primary force against which you will struggle, and it reminds you of that frequently, especially in the first 10 days or so. On every difficulty except for the easiest one, there are also hostile tribes and wildlife that you will have to deal with, although they are less threatening than the jungle itself. You can easily find yourself falling prey to them, though, if you are already weak with fever and starvation.
It took me about 14 hours to complete the story mode, and I would say that I went after it at a moderate pace. You could certainly play it faster if you were only concerned with blitzing the various story objectives, and you could definitely play it slower if you really focused on building elaborate camps and exploring every nook and cranny of the map.
Story mode has maybe moderate replay appeal. Most of what will keep me coming back to this game now that I've completed the story is the co-op mode.

Co-op: Surviving with a friend can be quite fun, as you are capable of building camps and accomplishing tasks MUCH faster than you are on your own. You can build crazy structures quite quickly with a partner or two collecting materials as well. Fighting groups of hostile tribesmen as a group is also quite a bit of fun. Be advised that you should play co-op on a higher difficulty than you play solo if you still want it to be a somewhat serious experience. On the lower difficulty, my friends and I quickly turned it into a clown show.

All things considered, I think this is definitely a game worth its pricetag.

Unfortuantely, the lag and STEEP loading times render it unplayable.

If you like realism, and a bit of a punishing game, this is for you. If you like shooters with no learning curve, stay away.

The game is good. I like the story and the gameplay. The new combat is more difficult and forces you to play it a little safer when approaching situations. Problem is that the GOD AWFUL optimization makes the game completely unplayable. Forget stealth because lag, rubberbanding, random 180 degree camera turns, framerate drops, and falls through the map make sneaky approaches damn near impossible. Same thing on the combat side. If an enemy pulls a gun, game over. Framerate drops will cause you to not even see it, much less dodge it. The situation gets even worse in co-op. The epic cutscenes are ruined by the framerate drops and texture pop in, which is a shame, because they felt very well crafted. I'm upset that this turned out so poorly. I love the series, and I love the game, but the optimization is so bad that it makes it a chore to play, if you can play it at all. The recently released patch did next to nothing as well. I don't know exactly who is to blame here, but it saddens me that they ruined this game for us.
