This game has become an absolute staple in my Saturday night get togethers and every time we play it's a blast. The game is very hard at times which makes it hilarious when we all fail and super satisfying when we succeed. Please do yourself a favor and grab this game, there are so few developers out there that still care about just making a game fun, and Mino is absolutely one of them.

I can only hope that the performance fixes continue to actually be released, as this game came out in the state it did purely to make a profit for shareholders. I very much enjoy the time I've spent in game, and I know that may be due to my setup being one of the "but it works just fine for me" or because I just don't notice anything other than a horribly low framerate for low res textures, which has improved slightly. Instead of turning my pc into a fanfest and struggling to run above 80fps, it can now hold at around 110fps at a decent temp after a cache clear, no fsr or framegen.

So far if you're waiting to buy it, it's getting better but not quite yet there post TU4. Get it on sale or look for a sale after the next performance TU.

Please either reform or get rid of the artian weapons.

Had a couple friends convince me to get it, and I could not be more happy that I did. Accidentally shot myself into space that very day.

I should have just cut my losses with this game way back when they made me buy it a whole second time.

Can't say it's ground breaking, but you can break the ground.

After finally reaching HR 100, and ready for Sunbreak to be here, I feel it's time to give a small review of MHRise. I will not go in depth at all until Sunbreak drops, just in case it changes the game quite a bit a la MHW Iceborn.

We hear it over and over again, yes, Monster Hunter isn't what it used to be. It's not as "good" as the old games, it's too "easy". Say what you will, people would complain all the same if they just released the same MH game like COD (call of duty) does. I feel that Rise has adapted to the next generation of MH games very well, and fits in to a modern title better than World did. It's not scared to change the formula a little here and there, add in a few moves or even make new sub-species that don't give you armor sets. It's a blast and a half to play through the story, let alone the gathering hub quests! I feel more sucked in the more I play, and I feel I can finally say I'm not very bad at monster hunter anymore, now I'm just bad. Getting better every hunt I do. With the addition of "wirebugs" the movement feels fast and rushed, which depending on the person, could be bad or good. I think that it's awesome to be able to fly around the map and access ledges and find all the secrets that are just out of eyesight. I really hope that Sunbreak doesn't change too much from the base game because I'm truly having an amazing time giving strangers my guild card like it's a business card.

I'm no where near educated enough to spew lore into a review, but if you can mind the few bugs you come across, TES Skyrim is literally my most favorite lore heavy game, and probably will be until Bethesda releases TESVI in 20 years.

Overall, the gameplay and feel of each game is very well crafted, and so far I haven't had any problems with both finding a match and playing to their completion. There's a few weapons that feel too powerful, like the grav hammer being able to quickly kill opponents from across large distances, and the sniper feeling heavy and clunky at times with a mouse, but fine on a controller. There are several times where I can account having full shields and health, turning a corner, and being dead before I even know what's going on. In certain conditions, this is not a bad thing, most of the time it just means that the other players are better than me, but the few times that stick in my head and haunt my dreams are players who are just spawning in because I was around the corner and "out of sight". I'm not absolutely sure on this, but rather than a radius check, it does a "line of sight" check. What this means is that before you spawn, it'll either check one of two things; Whether the enemy can see where you spawn, or if you can see any enemies when you spawn. It may even check both. Other than the few gripes about small balance issues, I feel that the multiplayer game modes are very well crafted. Everything else on the other hand; Fiesta, BTB, and custom games, as well as the shell we have for a theater mode, are another story all together. Fiesta overall feels like a power weapon cycle, which would be fine and can make for some fun times, if it was described as a power weapon game mode. More often than not, I spawn with two power weapons in both slots, which I feel is a bit off at times. It doesn't truly feel random in a sense that I rarely see the assault rifle or sidearm. It feels more like it should be called "power arena" or "heavy fiesta". The only other thing I don't quite understand is the mix of regular challenges with the "event" ones. Why are these not separate? From and outside perspective, it looks like they are heavily reliant on people grinding very very slowly, with a horrendous progression system, with evidence of this with the challenge rewards: Challenge Swaps. These should not be a "reward", these should be something similar to a "use by day" item or something that allow people to cycle out those challenges that just can't quite be reached. Like something along the lines of getting 3 of them a day with a max of 5 or just having a cap of 3 or 4. With that being said, I don't want to talk too much about the dumpster fire that is the progression system.
BTB on the other hand, is overall just a pile of junk. Compared to the normal "quickplay" and "fiesta", finding a match for BTB is quite a chore. There were several bugs that broke all of the menu's. One of the biggest ones that I remember off the top of my head is if you're searching for a game, get connected to everyone, and say someone force closes their game or disconnects to the servers, rather than kicking you to the main menu, it will give you a pop-up that continues to pop up every time you hit "okay" saying that their was a problem connecting to the fireteam. This results in having to force close your game and restart it, which is a time consuming task. While in game if you can connect to BTB, there are a few small things I noticed, one being that I feel that damage output and received is throttled in some way. The overall ttk (time to kill) feels much longer and I feel that I can walk out in the open to cross big wide open areas without much threat. This isn't quite a problem of having fun, but I feel that it messes with balance a little too much. Another issue that I've noticed in small amounts is that their always seems to be one or two players in the match that jump around. Almost as if the render for their player model is on two's. Not quite a lag issue, but some kind of problem that just makes them look as if they have a bad connection or something. I'm not sure if it really is a bad connection or lag, because I have yet to see this issue in any other game mode.
Now, with custom games, this is a problem. Custom games to me has been the absolute pinnacle of Halo's multiplayer. While the options to mess with and change around are incredible and extensive, giving you freedom to change almost every single detail of multiplayer are there, I've only managed to start two custom games that actually launch into game, and both of them crashed. In the options it states that this is running off a dedicated server, and with all the problems it has I have to assume that the servers designated to customs are not nearly has powerful or redundant as other multiplayer options. Another problem with customs is that the two times I did manage to get in game, the game modes I had chosen and modified were gone, and it was replaced with the base arena slayer option. The one thing that makes custom games "Custom Games" is the ability for them to be, get this, Custom. I can't even comment on how the custom games lobby feels because I have yet to even see one of my friends in a custom game, no matter how hard we try.
Now on to theater. This mode, while less important, is still something that I feel many people enjoy, and just like the progression system, it's a hot pile of garbage in the middle of the red district street that the homeless lit on fire for warmth. I have several games that I saved, and in each and every one of them, it's in a game that I wasn't even in. I'm not even sure how this is possible, but it seems that when you go back to view the games you just played, it'll pull some random video from another player. Not only that, but while spectating in game, sometimes you just can't spectate a certain player, for no obvious reason at all. You can follow them through the whole game with a free cam, but once you go to 1st or 3rd perspective, it'll just skip to the next player. Not only this, but the recording for the game starts what feels like a whole 30 seconds before the game even loads in, which feels very off putting and broken. The entire beginning is just a locked camera view of the map loading in on some random spot of the map. I will admit though it is fun for my self to watch everything load in, seeing the ins and outs of how the map is pieced together from a map makers perspective.
On to ranked. With this gamemode I have almost nothing to add, it feels very esk to just the regular quickplay. Though I will add that the decision to have BR starts and no side arm feel very forced and off putting. It states that it's ranked but only gives you precision weapons. I feel this heavily limits the potential that ranked could be. With a competitive gamemode, the players joining these matches should have a, slightly more narrow than quickplay, range of weapons to chose from. It just baffles me as to why ranked is setup like this. Not only this, but I feel that 10 matches to place in ranked feels like a bit much. It gives a little bit too much of a wide range of data. One match you could be pwned by the opposing team, scoring few points and ranking low, and on the next match you could be paired with a bunch of people who have never seen an FPS before.
In a small way to put the whole game before campaign drops, I highly recommend that you give this game a try. While they make customization feel like an absolute slog of a grind with no signs of getting any better at all, the gameplay is still amazing to say the least. Even if I can't have flaming footsteps without putting in 200 hours into just multiplayer, it's still only a cosmetic. With 343 seeming to stick to very few promises for progression, one of the things they kept was that none of this game feels anywhere close to a pay to win. If you have that Halo gameplay itch that MCC just can't quite reach, Infinite has a two foot long golden back scratcher with that little toy hand at the end of it, and if you put in a few hundred hours, it also has flames and insults you every time you use it in a polish accent.
