This is an amazing experience. I haven't played HL2 in years so I was excited to play through the game again.

The game is incredible in vr. I haven't run into any bugs yet and it runs really well. The implementation is really well done and feels like a native vr game. Amazing work!

[Update]
After playing for another few hours I am even more impressed. Each time I fire up the game I just plan on messing around for 15 - 20 minutes but end up getting so engrossed that I play for over an hour in a single shot. Most vr games that I play I take a few minute break every 20 minutes or so, this mod makes an hour feel like 15 minutes.

[Update]
After spending another 3 hours with the game I am still having a lot of fun. It's easy to just jump in if you want to play for a short session but also keeps the fun going if you want to play for longer periods of time. The action is fast and the shooting is really satisfying.

My only request would be that more levels are added and maybe some sort of boss or tougher enemy that comes out on occasion. Maybe someone with a bit of armor that you have to shoot off to open up a good kill shot.

I've been having a lot of fun with this game. The shooting/weapons feel great and the length and pacing of each level is perfect for me (anywhere from 5 to 10 minutes). I've only unlocked a couple of the weapons but looking forward to getting my hands on the rest!

Playing on easy is super easy but it gives you a chance to quickly get used to the game mechanics before increasing the difficulty. The shooting range is also a great addition.

I pretty much always avoid games that don't have a locomotion movement option but teleport movement works great here and is implemented really well. Not sure if it would be any better at all with locomotion.

Played on Valve Index.

This game was a surprise! I downloaded the demo and played a few rounds but was still on the fence (and still learning the game mechanics). I thought it was 'pretty fun' so decided to buy the game. I am glad I did. After I got comfortable with the controls and learned how to play the game I was addicted (over 7 hours in 2 days). I am a casual fan of flight games and one thing I really like about this is the fact that it is not a 'shoot at the tiny dot off in the distance' type of combat game. Since you are relegated to machine guns and a flare gun (that acts like a mini grenade launcher in a way) it feels more akin to an FPS game in a flight package. I also like that you have to physically drop bombs over the side of your plane.

I really like the upgrade system and how you can keep expanding your squadron. It makes it even better that you can switch between the planes in your squadron on the fly. It allows you to come up with some great strategies and techniques.

The game doesn't take a powerhouse PC and runs great. I'm using an Index @120hz but set the SS at 120% as much higher seems to blur things too much.

[Update]
There have been several patches released now that drastically improved performance. Now I can easily maintain the necessary 90fps. The game really starts to open up with some great set pieces and scenarios. The bombing run was pretty cool.

One common thing in a lot of the negative reviews that make me chuckle are the people with less than 1 hour and bash the game saying the combat is just "30 second vignettes". They are clearly not intelligent enough about gaming to realize that they are in a tutorial. Props to Respawn for having a tutorial that is more game-like and laughter at people that think the entire game is like the first hour.

[Original Review]
The game definitely needs some optimization but other than that, the campaign has been really fun. It sort of eases you into the action/game mechanics and as the campaign goes on it gets better and more challenging. Once Respawn implements some performance patches the game will be amazing. Until then, it's still fun if you have good hardware and fine with 'acceptable' performance.

Current system:
Valve Index
Ryzen 7 3700X
RTX 2080 Super
16GB RAM

I always have a blast with Operation Warcade but I did not even know this game existed until the day it released. Once I saw it was from the same devs I purchased it immediately (I didn't even bother with the demo).

This game is really fun and definitely holds up to my expectation from this developer. Not only is it a great game to show to non-VR people (no vr legs required) but the retro feel and gameplay are going to keep me jumping back in anytime I want to just sit back, chill and play some VR.

The gameplay is fun and the weapons feel really good (especially with attachments). I'm looking forward to trying it out in co-op. I'll update once I get more time into the game.

After another 13 hours I have to say this game is amazing! It's even fun to just explore the town. A new update was just released making many houses more run-down and deteriorated. It's much more fitting and gives more variation to the exploration part.

All of that and I still haven't played coop yet. I'm sure it's even better with friends!

This game is amazing. Exactly what I was hoping for. It is really well paced and the interactions and mechanics are really well done. The environments look incredible! Definitely a must have for any Half-Life and/or VR enthusiast. This shows how VR can be done when you combine all the right elements.

[Updated Review]
I bought this game years ago (but never really played it until last year) and while it was pretty cool, it wasn't all that great back then. After a PC upgrade I finally decided to re-visit the game. Based on my current experience I had to change my review to recommended! It is a really fun game and the weapons feel great. The game has a ridiculous amount of weapons and attachments that are unlocked through XP and leveling up. I haven't tried the co-op yet but I have been having a blast so far in SP.

While the game currently isn't very long (2 to 3 hours at most for one play through) the missions are fun enough that they are worth several runs. Especially to try previous levels with newly unlocked weapons/attachments.

[Thanks for your response, dev's. I figured it was time to give it another shot and you delivered]

This is an amazing iteration of DOOM! The first FPS I ever played was Wolfenstein 3D (when it was originally released, I still have my original disks). Shortly after, I got a shareware disk of DOOM and was hooked! In the console craze I picked up Final DOOM for PS1 and had a blast. I was slightly disappointed with DOOM 3 but really appreciated it for what it was. Looking at 3 as a different game, I really did enjoyed it in the end. DOOM 2016 was amazing and I thought it felt more like DOOM than 3 but almost a mix of classic DOOM and 3.

DOOM Eternal is almost exactly what I would imagine a current version of DOOM envisioning. The flow of the levels are amazing and you really have to keep moving. I know some people are complaining that it doesn't feel like DOOM, but I am willing to bet that the vast majority of those people are under 40. That said, for the people that don't like it, I totally understand and they have every right to criticize. You like it or you don't, but if you say this is not DOOM then you are sadly mistaken.

Generally, I liked the platforming. Maybe a little bit less would have been better but it's not like it was all that challenging anyway. I am also not a huge fan of the (drastically) limited ammo but due to the game mechanics it works for the most part. This is definitely a solid entry in the series and a great successor to the series. I am looking forward to the next iteration and hope that they evolve the game in even more ways.

I am really enjoying this game! I play it in VR and it is amazing. The laid back exploration, mining, crafting, etc.. is perfect! The fact that it is space related makes it even better for me. I've only been playing the game for 3 weeks so far but am right about to hit 100 hours.

So far my only real gripe is that water reflections are terrible in VR. They need to allow you to turn them off but at least there is a Nexus mod that will disable the reflections for now. Other than that, it is one of the most perfect games for me. We'll see how I feel in another 100 hours though.

EDIT: HG just patched out the water reflections for PCVR (in the experimental branch)!
