Brigador is good. I'm sure there are plenty of reviews already that explain the ins and outs of the game, so I'll just list what I like.

Brigador has very good art. You can see the care that went into every single sprite. The thought put into the engineering of these vehicles. There are three different factions in the game, each with their own sort of theme. The Loyalists are pretty standard Battletech/Starcraft Terran style that you'd expect from a game like this, with some creative twists. The Spacers have vehicles that look very high-tech and elegant, but still believable in design. Orange checkerboard patterns, thin lightweight legs, spherical wheels instead of tank treads, lots of moving parts. The Corvids (my favorite) have vehicles that are cobbled together from old truck frames, salvaged legs, and the occasional stripped out muscle car. Each vehicle has character and creativity in its design.

Brigador has a lot of variety. You choose a vehicle, bolt your choice of two weapons onto it, and roll out. There are many different vehicles in the game, each with its own list of statistics such as hull strength, turn speed, forward movement speed, chassis turn speed, etc. Each weapon does something different. The Abbot is a giant cannon that punches through armor through sheer concussive force. The Otomo is a giant, short-ranged sustained laser that can melt through metal like marshmallows over a fire, but takes a few seconds to focus in. The Gutterball is a giant ball of heavy metal launched like a catapult that arcs over obstacles and crashes through buildings like they're made of paper. The Harvester is a massive artillery strike that flies high into the air before splitting into a cluster of explosives and then destroying a city block as it lands. These guns are all unique and satisfying to use.

Brigador has unique and interesting lore. It's mostly presented through vehicle descriptions and the backstory of the selectable pilot characters. It all paints a bleak picture of an interesting and cohesive world. Also, the developers have approached a professional author to write a book set in the game's universe. It's definitely worth a read. I think it's really cool that the game got this kind of dual release and wish more developers would do this sort of thing.

Tom Francis made Gunpoint which is my GOTY 5ever and I love him. This is his newest game. You should try it because it's free

The game's about swinging around and building momentum and is real fun to play for a few minutes at a time.

Booorriiingg! Enemies take a million shots to kill and it gets old trying to hunt them down. The co-op mode is just bad! Usually one player ends up getting super duper strong while everyone else just gets more and more useless as time goes on. The game is super actiony but there's no sense of resource management which is what makes roguelikes fun

Very spooky game. Use bombs and guns and nails to blow up your enemies! Watch out for tentacle monsters
