Excellent depth of gameplay and game modes, with a familiar cast of heroes, items and mechanics.

Well polished and visually appealing.

Updates since launch have added a reasonable level of progression and reward for regular play.

Cons? Games can be a little too long and require a fairly high level of engagement. Could be pros depending on preference and mood though.

8/10 currently and will expect it to only get better as time goes on.

edit, after a few months of playing: in my opinion, Faeria is the 'best' digital ccg around - so much strategic/tactical/deck-building depth, incredible fun, strong competitive community, well-made and minimal rng. I've played Hearthstone, Elder Scrolls: Legends, Eternal, Duelyst, Gwent... - Faeria is the one I'm sticking with!

Along the lines of Duelyst, this is another hybrid turn-based tactical card game. Unlike Duelyst, this is played on a hex board, and it's up to each player to lay the plains, forests, lakes, mountains and desert tiles that minions are able to move on. Each type of tile corresponds to a card faction, with each faction having a unique set of mechanics and potential playstyles. Along with tiles, the other primary resource is mana. In Faeria, this persists between turns and can be harvested from areas on the board, which is quite an interesting dynamic as opposed to the 'get 1,2,3 ... mana per turn and use it all to be efficient' directive of Hearthstone/Duelyst/most CCGs.

Overall, it's a deeply strategic and polished experience, with beautiful card art and game boards. More depth and less RNG than Hearthstone, and certainly gives Duelyst a run for it's money in terms of interesting/varied gameplay, artwork/graphics and client performance.

Coming from Hearthstone and similar games such as The Elder Scrolls Legends, I find the MTG-style gameplay interesting and deep in comparison, with less RNG and a lot more decision making. There are plenty of card types and a wide range of card mechanics to add depth. There's also a wide range of game modes, 'Draft' standing out in particular - draft a 48-card deck from 4 packs (and keep the cards!) and play with it until you hit 7 wins or 3 losses. It's an interesting take on HS's arena mode.

As far as UX goes, the client is smooth and polished, and the in-game UI is fairly decent. It's still quite a way off HS and will probably never reach that level of polish, but it's still more than adequate and has improved significantly from alpha.

Recommended for anyone who enjoyed HS but got over it due to the simplistic gameplay, RNG-fest and constant need to purchase expansions/adventures. Or alternatively, for the MTG fans looking for a polished digital experience.
