I recommend this game if you like Metroidvania-style games (or if you played Treasure Adventure Game).

This is not a typical formulaic Metroidvania. It does contain the hallmarks of the genre, in that you gradually acquire upgrades that allow you to go back to old areas and access new sections, but it does so without the standard grid-based map or feeling like a series of color-coded doors. This game feels more like a classic NES adventure platformer, where you feel like you're just exploring the world (and its many different areas) on your own, stumbling upon interesting items, and doing quests. The upgrades are thematic to the game's world and story, and sometimes you think "I wonder how I'm going to use this?", rather than just "now i can blow open that door I saw or jump across that gap from earlier" like you might expect.

Instead of being one huge series of rooms in a cave or a castle, the game is split up into many different islands which you travel between. It's especially nice in the endgame, because you don't end up dreading some really long run across some area you're sick of. Each island has its own fun little identity and usually some unique mechanics. The main emphasis is on the exploration and adventure, and fighting ordinary enemies is usually not the most exciting part of the game, but the boss fights are all really fantastic and are fun to figure out. The music is great from start to finish. I would say that the main story is fairly light, but still nice, and all of the side stories are interesting.
