Overall this game is a 7.5/10 for me. I love the Lego Star Wars series growing up on my PS2 and was thriller to play the game on my pc the last couple months. After starting the game I played the new episodes as I have not already played them before. Starting with episode 7, I was pretty hooked immediately as the game is a marvel visually.

The games story is very childish as one would expect, I enjoyed the cut scenes at first as the jokes were so bad it was funny. While the story is themed around kids and getting kids to enjoy it, THERE ARE SO MANY CUT SCENES! You cannot escape them.

After going through episode 7, I hadn't found that many canisters which shows the levels need to be played several times to be enjoyed, however, the cut scenes can't always be skipped and 70% of the levels are you watching instead of playing which isn't all that enjoyable.

I played episode 1 next because I was interested in how they changed the level and wanted to relive my nostalgic 8 year old days. Then I played the first episode and it was truly disappointing. In the original Lego Star Wars, the first level is Obi Wan and Qui-Gan going through the level and finding a means to escape as they found its a trap and there are several corridors you can take and you're able to look for canisters in super weird spots so I had some pretty high expectations. The first level in this game took me literally 3 minutes to go through, the most fun I had was beating the hell out of the props for coins. The makers of this game clearly took 0 inspiration from the original. So I instantly lost all motivation to continue the game.

Looking back, I understand the audience isn't aimed at kids in their 20's trying to relive the prequels they grew up on but aimed at the kids that don't care for story and want to unlock all the characters. I'll also cut some more slack for them as they added so many other things that are so cool and fun like free-play and the open world, but they really missed the mark for me as advancing too much kind of ruined the game.

Now for some more cons. The camera angles suck so much! The amount of time I spent trying to get Fin to aim at the troopers and not try and build something or tuck behind cover was non sense. Not to mention the movement and aim assist are garbage and made me want to throw my controller at the wall. Another problem I had was if you accidently hit F2 on your keyboard while you play, two player split-screen pops up and you have to restart the game to close two player as there is literally no other way! I play on controller so when split screen happened for a literal whole as level I wanted to punch my monitor as I had to fight Kylo in episode 7 alone with Rae because I refused to restart the level, it was easy regardless because the game is stupid easy but it was annoying to have one side of my screen flash red every other second because Fin was getting shot by stormtroopers and I couldn't do anything about it as I was busy fighting Kylo on the other half of the screen.

Besides the fact I have a slight bias towards once hard games made easy, the game is truly about exploration and completion rather than difficulty and nostalgia. That is why the grading is relatively high for disliking the game. So I do recommend the game, but know if you had any of the same expectations as me you'll be disappointed.
