I love it.
If you like half life, play this.
If you're sceptical whether VR is worth it, this is the one to try.

PROS
+ it does have the "half life feel" the other games had too. by that I mean the general setting of the game, its atmosphere, the environmental design as well as the plot structure and pacing.
+ the graphics are amazing for a VR game and also in general compared to other non-VR games. it's crazy how photorealistic it looks at times. and the amount of care and detail the artists put into everything is just phenomenal. this is what 12 years of development time gives ya, i guess.
+ good mix of story / fights / puzzles.
+ story is good and oh boy the ending. play it RIGHT FRIGGIN NOW HUGGING MEOW, you do not want to get spoiled on this if you care about half life!
+ the puzzles are enjoyable to solve and never frustrating
+ I like the weapon set and the crafting system to upgrade them is cool too
+ if you're a VR noob like me or have never played VR before, this game goes super easy on you and nicely introduces you to all the new things without overwhelming you. things can be challenging, but never get frustrating
+ nice accessibility and comfort options. I don't get motion sickness so I cannot report whether they do actually help but it's good they're there

CONS
- loading screens. idk why there is no level streaming but valve probably had their reasons for it. still, it kinda breaks the flow and they're quite long too. so definitely install on an ssd if you have one
- there is no melee weapon. if you're out of ammo mid-fight, you're f*cked. I hope they add one or the ability to use junk that's laying around as a make-shift weapon
- your feet might start to hurt from prolonged play sessions because you can't stop playing because the game's just that good

I was always sceptical of VR, not necessarily as a technology for gaming but more for me personally, whether I'd enjoy a VR experience or if I should just stick to regular ol' first person games. well, this game definitely raised the bar and if there's more to come like this, count me in.

so, all in all. definitely recommended!

one of the best logic/puzzle games
if you love puzzle games you should definitely play this
the game mechanic is simple but so ingenious. the puzzles are well designed and can get really hard really quickly, even with only a few puzzle elements. but it rarely gets repetitive/boring and is very good at introducing new concepts along the way
it forces you to think outside the box
also soundtrack and visuals are great, so that's a plus

It has lossless flac audio! awesome.
I love the track Kindheit but all the versions on YouTube I ever found are low-quality and the .ogg you can extract from the game's files has a bitrate of 64kbit/s (yikes). I am not the most audiophile person, 320kbit/s mp3s are honestly fine and I can't tell the difference to lossless audio, but at 64 kbit/s, you really hear the compression artefacts.
Now I finally have a compression-artefact-free copy of Kindheit
