I'm addicted to this sim and I can't help it. I used to fly fs2000 way back in the day and enjoyed it but didn't have a joystick or yoke so I couldnt actually enjoy the full potential of that game. I acquired a joystick somehow and noticed FSX in the steam holiday sale so i splurged and bought it. Best 5 bucks ever spent. After watching countless learning vids and lets fly's i decided I wanted to make my experiance much more realistic.
I got involved with a few online communities and realized this game is deadly accurate when it comes to airport information. By using websites such as www.fltplan.com and freechecklists.net I can easily fully plan out and complete a flight from point A to point B exactly as I would IRL.
Also, to make the game a little more realistic (as far as flight planning) with even more information I recommend dl'ing a program called Plan G which is found at www.tasoftware.co.uk this program has an immense amount of information and alot of tools that can help you with sim flight planning.
One last bit to mention is for a slight performance upgrade. Alot of people might not be optimized to run this game at the potential that their computer can handle. Go to this site www.venetubo.com/fsx.html and follow the steps on the bottom of the page. Then go here www.fsx-online.com/sites/default/files/files/FPS_Limiter_0.2.zip and download the FPS limiter. Both of these steps will help your computer tremendously and helped me with some of the random in flight issues I was having. Hope this review/guide helps!
Also even without a sale FSX is worth the money.
