I gave this a modest amount of thought and I did finish the whole game.

I can't recommend it to be honest. There's too much that's lacking for that price.
I really support indie developers but this game needed a significant amount more time in the oven.

The biggest issue I have with is that it seems like the game doesn't know what it wants to be.
RPG, Ego shooter, platformer, puzzle game. It has all the elements and it doesn't do any of them well.
They are just less good or worse.

Graphics:
It's pretty to look at but you need a very powerful machine to run it, the optimization is awful. I had some insane frame drops in areas and even with a 9800x3d and a 4090 there were areas I only got 70fps on 1440p. The CPU load is insane.
The worlds are actually very thoughtful and beautifully crafted but they are unnecessarily MASSIVE. I'm talking literal square KM of space with nothing in between. The driving around is cumbersome at best.

Voice acting:
The companion robot TOBI has the better voice acting. I personally found the main character not relatable at all. Wanna be badass biologist with advanced military training.

Gameplay: Like I said in the intro, the game doesn't know what it wants to be. The mechanics are all there but not flushed out. I had some major gameplay breaking glitches and bugs with boxes getting stuck, vehicles levitating in mid air so I had to reload a checkpoint. MAJOR frame spikes and pop ins from bad optimization
The gunplay is sluggish
The puzzles are cumbersome and longwinded for no reason.
The skill trees are meh
The weapon customization is alright and actually has an effect
The vehicle driving in general is .. I'm not even sure how to rate it
Water level was most balanced
Car driving was alright
Ship flying was awful

Story:
this mysterious blue material .. I didn't get it. The aliens were all robots, just call em robots. The main character is cringe in my opinion, not relatable at all. His voice acting just didn't make it feel great. I just can't put my finger on it.

All in all it was a nice change but this game is so riddled with issues that I can't recommend it. Watch a play through but I found it more of a chore than an enjoyment to be honest.

I am changing my review to positive, since the devs have constantly been improving the game and now with the crossplay update, we can eradicate all the non super earth scum from the galaxy combined.

The games performance has been degrading with every update to the point where I'm getting 40fps on a 3090/5800x3d combo. This game ran easy in the 90-100fps range a few months ago.

Unplayable due to input lag/disconnect every 5-20 seconds for about 1 second.
Can't aim, can't walk or can't stop to aim can't stop to walk.
Tons of posts in steam, reddit and online say the same things.
The only game that has ever done this on my computer.

I want to recommend this game solely because it gave me an absolute intense and mind blowing insight on people with severe psychosis.
I appreciate the effort and work that was put into this game and I enjoyed every single second of it, as I forgot time and hunger and thirst around me while I was completely grabbed by Senua's experience in her own mind.
I can't understand all the critisicm this game gets since it's a brand new game that had years of effort put into it and that for just about 30€.
The game features a huge variety of different locations, rich in detail and colors that made me appreciate nature for what it has to offer down to the deepest darkness and places I never ever want to see or even get close to PERIOD.
For a game that is based heavily on the pure experience by the character as the main feature and a fighting system that was only secondary, I was extremely enjoying it.
No health bar, no stamina bar, no explenation for how to fight. Back to the basics and how to actually learn to play. But this game was not meant for this character to learn anything anymore, this character is far beyond that, that's why you get thrown into it so brutally.
I loved that I had to find my own way in the game. Nobody that told you were to go, no time limits for most of the game and you had to think differently which reminded me on portal a lot.
With it's absolutely defensive and timing based counter attacks, different enemy classes that also featured variety a good variety of attacks I quickly got a hang of it. I just finished RYSE a couple weeks ago which as a similar fighting system which I liked and I started on hard right away. Every parry was extremely satisfying and every defeated enemy made my heart race faster.
About the permadeath I can't say anything as I died about 3 times in the game and never in a fight.
I'm going to play it again. I wished it was longer, but it took me about 12 hourse to finish it the first time which is long for a linear game. Halo 5 took me about 8 on Legendary and that game costed twice the amount.
I'll take a big experience for life out of this as it helped me to see psychosis on a complete different level.
Best game I've played this year. Thumps up to the devs. I'd like to see more games like this.
