Rust has went through alot of variations since I began playing. My style is solo and in the beginning in the BP era, no issues, a solo could compete, then it went to XP system and still no issues, a solo could survive and have fun with this game.

Then came component system (listening to the youtube streaming crowd almost ruined the game, and I was incredibly put off, we lost a ton of players in this time, and Gary and Helk were incredibly oblivious and arrogant about the feedback from a majority of the players),and about this time they killed off all the official regional servers where people played wipe after wipe together....

then...the Devs began to listen or at least play the game themselves, and I can say now over the past year they are really getting this game right.

The non-wipe of the BPs you learn on servers, keeps you loyal to the server, and keeps a community coming back to that same server once they learn the BPs and the balance they are creating with the progression and the tweaking of the decay system, and now the "thinking game" of electricity....I have in about 4k hours NOT recommended this game, but now I 100% do.

People will be toxic when you start, and rust has a learning curve of several hundred hours on officials, but stick with it and it will be the game you continue to go back to because the depth is not just pvp or pve or raid or be raided, its deeper than that.

The other sore spot is hacking on officials, this is to be expected, you have to be smart , its the wild west, you have to survive , play smart, report, and you will see the Devs react with patches etc. Don't be turned off because one wipe you run into a hacking squad, they eventually will get banned.

Solo play on officials is all but dead,you cant compete with zergs of 12+ players but what you can do is work with your new neighbors, create friendships, band together, some of my worst enemies in game when i started are now my best playing buddies. Don't give up too early on Rust.

I have played with people on rust for the last 3-4 years, this game is legit, BUY IT, BUY THE SKINS, find a small team and play, oh and Helk, Alistar, Holmzy, and Garry , Rob still says you suck :)
