Finished the demo, I've played CrossCode before, so I'll be comparing this demo with it.
Alabaster Dawn is the newest game from RadicalFish that separates itself from CrossCode. The most obvious thing is that the graphics have changed from the pseudo 3D of CrossCode to a true 3D environment. The only valid complaint I have for the graphics is that my FPS halves whenever a fog is present with my integrated graphics. The game seems tied to FPS so you're going to have a choppy experience right now without a non-dedicated GPU.

For the gameplay, they've definitely improved on the platforming, no more jumping off accidentally which was the source of my frustration with CrossCode's system. In combat, up from CrossCode's two weapons, you now have the potential to use a whole eight different weapons with each of the four elements (each element possessing a melee and ranged weapon). The level design so far is linear but that's to be expected from a demo set in the very beginning of the game, there aren't any secret areas before you clear the hive and there is a only a bit of loot to find around after that from what I was able to find.

The plot is passable with a divine focus and has a more initial serious tone compared to CrossCode's. The one thing that I'm hung up on are the characters; they currently strike me as uninspired, but I peg that as nostalgia for CrossCode's characters and the strong first impressions they had. Overall, the game has already made improvements in gameplay and has potential to make the splash that CrossCode should have had. I hope it doesn't end up like Sea of Stars where I don't care about the characters.

This is the first, and still is, one of my favorite spaghetti making games.
