Not bad for what it is, Vampire Survivers making flipperbabies with the classic Wizardry style dungeon crawl. I don't find myself as OCD over it as I did Vampire Survivors, but it is definitely fun enough.

Bonus that the Mac client runs like a champ.

Pretty game, but boy is it a crash fest.

In the first 30 minutes, the game crashed 3 times. None of these crashes were because my system was out of resources or under any great strain. The game barely put a dent in my ram or cpu, and the gpu was happily serving up > 90fps in windowed and full-screen ultra settings with MetalFX enabled, and ~50-60fps with it disabled.

I'm not a terribly big fan of the controls.

As much as I wanted to like this one, pretty sure it isn't for me.

This was a fun little incremental. 3 hours of entertainment with an excellent lo-fi soundtrack and a fairly deep (as these games go) ending. I wouldn't have minded it lasting longer.

I've been using 3DMark on my PCs for benchmarking and stress testing since 1998. It gives generally consistent and reliable results for both CPU and GPU benchmarks.

The recent Mac update is a nice addition.

Early Access Review
Edit post 1.5.1:

The game is *still* excessively grindy. Meta and level progression is *still* effectively locked behind rapidly increasing gold costs and lucking out with RNG rolls on equipment drops. The reward for the grind is pretty weak.

Skills selection is pure RNG , and stuff like blessing skills so it shows up more often is pretty... garbage.

I don't understand the whole locking everything to the class/character, especially when there is really no difference between the classes/characters other than weapon or special attack.

I'm sick of having to grind the same (not terribly high) floor just to get enough gear to survive more than 5 minutes of the next floor.

I'd give this a 2 out of 5. Nice concept. Crap implementation.

Game will stay uninstalled until the devs get their heads out of their collective mobile game making a**es and balance the loot and difficulty for a single player with no micro-transaction pay to win.

This game is very retro pretty, and I do like the engine style. Vector graphics are nostalgic, that classic arcade feel.

What I don't like is... the game. It is not fun. At all. What so ever.

The controls are stupid. I feel like I have to fight the wonky movement more than the enemies in the game.

This really needed more time in the oven before releasing to early access.

Maybe I'll check it out again after it goes full release, but for now it gets uninstalled.

I like the engine, very arcade retro feeling. I like the general premise of the game too, also very retro arcade feeling. I feel like I need a big ol trackball.

What I don't like is the difficulty curve going off the freaking rails with every new update. It was fun(ish) at first, but every update since the initial has introduced more and more jank difficulty without any sort of balance to gameplay.

I'll check this out when it releases out of early access, but for now, it gets uninstalled.

Edit shortly after v0.700:
Still janky and unfun. What is the point of having a skill tree if you're going to still force RNG for selecting the skills.

Oh look. Even more spam of enemy projectiles that are unable to be blocked or destroyed if you're hermit mode.

Uninstalled again.

At $4.99 this is pretty good bang for buck. The game has a fairly unique take on the tower defense genre, and I'm all for unique and tower defense with roguelite meta.

Cute little game for the price. I can safely say that the 2.6 hours of gameplay I got out of it for $0.99USD was satisfactory.

Will I play it again? Nope. Do I really recommend buying it? Eh... not really, but that is purely because it has zero lasting power and not because it wasn't fun.

This game would be much more fun if you could ban upgrades after unlocking them. Usually meta unlocks are positive impact in games, not so in this one. You unlock random crap that pollutes your pool. Makes the game wildly less fun.

Maybe it'll get better in the future, but as it stands currently, the game pisses me off. I mildly regret not refunding.
