Awesome developer, happy to support his work. Really enjoying the game, and am now addicted. No hand-holding here, and I love it. Hard to get started (read the Beginner Guide in the Community Guides, huge help). There are so many nuanced parts of the game that are not apparent, which have been fun to discover (Wait you can do THAT!?). Join the Discord and learn even more crazy things you can do! Looking forward to the future.

I played SimTower back in the 90s, absolutely favorite Sim game next to SimCity 2000. This is the best successor to SimTower - and is much better in my opinion. I just wish more was being added to the game and actively developed again, because it's so good!

If you like crafting, endless exploring, flying spaceships, managing bases, interior design, shooting spaceships, building bases, driving ground based vehicles, endless questing, faction grinding, pet collecting, mining, farming, building underwater bases, discovering planets, pet breeding, killing pirates, space trucking, trading, scanning everything, jetpack flight, modifying terrain, meeting aliens, learning alien languages, finding hidden treasure, exploring underwater, and then upgrading all of the above - then this is the game for you.

Oh yeah, you have to like space too.

Incredible retro-feeling rogue-lite game. The music alone took me back to the early 90s DOS games (Archon Ultra was brought to mind...). Fantastic and worth playing. Can feel a tad grindy when you have to collect specific crafting/building materials - but every run is something new and fun, and you figure out different farming strategies for each chapter - so that keeps the grinding feeling less monotonous. Overall 9/10, can't beat it!

Wonderful survival experience. I can only liken it to Minecraft + Ultima Online, in a single player low-poly setting. The survival aspect is simple at it's core (which is refreshing). And each system is refined so nicely (the repair and food system is just right!). More complex than other survival games in some ways, and less complex as well. The exploration is very rewarding and fun... a slight shadow of Breath of the Wild in that aspect.

FOR NEW PLAYERS - my one piece of advice is this:
Play the game without any help. Don't look anything up. Struggle through and figure it out on your own. The game does a fine job of leading you along bit by bit. Don't rush, be patient, and drink the world in. Enjoy the world how I enjoyed games in the early 90s... and it will become a treasured experience!

I have been looking for a good 4X game comparable to my favorite 4X game of all time - Master of Orion 2. This one fits the bill. I've tried a few other games that were "like" MoO2 - but Stellaris just nails it. I'm hooked! Now to get all the expansions...
