I've only played around 20 hours and I haven't even dipped my toes into the anything beyond moon orbit yet. This game is captivating and I love it! Not for the faint of heart or those who want to get right into the action -- it's a very deliberately paced experience, although there are new start options that look to get you into more action sooner, but I would highly recommend learning the game with the regular start because there is so much to understand with what's going on under the hood.

It's entirely possible that I may change my mind once I get out beyond the moon, but I highly doubt it. Everything about the game has absolutely met my expectations so far and then some!

The most hostile account management setup I have ever seen in three decades of online gaming.

My interest in this was piqued as a shooter styled after the more classic Call of Duty titles rather than what the series morphed into over time.

While it does have great compact map design and solid basic movement and is running on a sturdy game engine, everything else was disappointing.

Load times are silly for the size of the maps, the weapon selection is limited with no functional customization that I could find (other than cosmetics/skins to unlock), lobbies too frequently are half populated by bots, quickscopers are an even bigger plague here than in recent CoD games (yes, I know, "git gud" -- not interested in becoming one myself and it's just not fun to play against), and it just generally hasn't been a very welcoming experience.

The core gameplay is excellent, with RNG handled as well as I've seen a CCG do. Sure, I lose most of my matches, but I can almost always point to mistakes I made either in my deck construction/drafting or in my decisions during the game that led to my defeat.

I already thoroughly enjoyed it before the latest update, but the balance changes and implementation of ranking and progression are just icing on the cake.

Free draft mode is by far my favorite way to play. Well worth picking up!

I've waited decades for someone to take Battletech tabletop and make a decent computer version of it. This release has reworked the rules/systems a bit, but it just feels right regardless of the changes.

I don't care about the story stuff (good or bad); I just wanted gameplay that feels like classic Battletech tabletop, and for the most part Harebrained Schemes nailed it. The game needs more optimization, but is otherwise solid for Battletech gameplay on the computer. Happy customer here.

If you have fond memories of the classic Sim City games and have yearned for a fun and flexible city-builder, then stop reading and buy this game. Seriously. $30 for this is a ridiculous bargain for the hourse you're liable to get out of it.
