I took a 6 month break from rust and just played a full wipe. The content updates over that time period are great but I simply cannot recommend it at this time. They have been unable to solve the server drop off problem. At the start of a wipe you can have 100 players in a server and then 2 weeks laster you are down to 20. The game is very time consuming on vanilla but a lot of fun. However, if you outlast the raiding purge during the first 2 weeks you will be bored and stop playing like many others. They need to figure out a way to make early gameplay last much longer and guns less available the first week.

DO NOT BUY THIS GAME.

Please note I have had zero technical problems with the game so my review is based on actually playing the game just under 20 hours. I have no intention of putting any more time into the game at this point.

Pros:
-The game is pretty
-The first 6 hours or 4 planets were fun

Cons:
-After 6 hours it is boring, boring, boring
-The planets are basically all the same with different terrain
-The game is one big boring grind for resources and ore
-The inventory system is terrible and you will never have enough spaces to keep your resources in so 50% of the game is just managing that and not exploring

If this game goes on sale for $15 give it a try otherwise avoid it completely!!
