So good! Absolutely love this aesthetic and have been waiting for another unfolding incremental with elements like this for a long time!

Definitely does it right.

I love this game. Absolutely adored HK, and this is no different! I'm reviewing this after around 36hrs on Steam and 45+ hours on Switch (I moved to Switch and started anew for comfort and to experience the HD Rumble.)

I have a few points of criticism which I'm pretty sure Team Cherry has already heard PLENTY of and are addressing (they have done a little in their first patch)- but here they are anyways:
1. The frequency of two-mask damage is way too high across the board, the heal for three (and the speed of it) is great, but it's not quite enough to circumvent this.
2. Late-game enemies are absurdly tanky, too many gauntlets full of them as well.
3. Tools do not generate silk (they really should, even if just a small portion of a pip), and there's no way to upgrade or increase the amount of silk you get per hit.
4. There's at least two runbacks that take way too long: The Last Judge and Groal the Great
5. Rosary economy and shard gain/usage needs some adjustments. I would like to see both shards attracted to you, and tools requiring less shards as you upgrade your crafting kit.
6. Certain late-game minigames and challenges are a little too difficult - the score that must be hit to obtain rewards I feel should be a bit lower. I wasted way too much time on the Flea Festival and still was unable to beat any of the challenges.

This game is brilliant.

Mixture of Slay the Spire and Dicey Dungeons, both games I loved!

Very polished.

This game... this one's a treat! You can really see the love poured into this gem.

Length is just right, got that lovely traditional rpg feel (but with its own twists!), and an extensive post-game that I'm as of writing this review exploring. The game can be a little rough around the edges at some points (my only gripes were simply quality of life features that could have been added, such as a more functional map as I got lost a bit early on) but once you get used to its charm and familiar with the world it continues to be a joy to play. The puzzles are enjoyable and never seem to take too much of a toll! Combat is straightforward- not too complicated/challenging because of its zelda-like nature, but just enough thrown in to make it (and the boss fights) interesting, which I appreciate. Art direction and visuals are fantastic, the character portraits especially are incredibly well done & highly detailed- but still match up nicely with the rest of the game's sprites perfectly. The music - while I could have wished for more melodic complexity, uniqueness, and polish as a game composer myself - does its job nicely of meshing together both chiptune and acoustic instrumentation!

I give it... an 8/10!
