There's so much more going on in this game than I expected. Feels like a long overdue use of survival crafting mechanics for more of a traditional game experience. The co-op factor ties it all together really nicely.

Reminds me of Tarkov back in the days when all you needed was a Makarov and a dream. Refreshing to play a game like this where I can just hurl whatever I have in my inventory onto my character and feel up to the task.

Bit janky, slightly budget feeling, but I've had a lot of fun since the free weekend.

I've always been trying to find a modern roguelike that combined the massive legacy depth of a game like Nethack with modern design philosophy, a good setting and things to do in the game beyond just dungeon crawl

I didn't think that game would exist, but Qud is it. It's well balanced, it's easy to make decent characters by your gaming intuition and there is a wonderful combination of structure and procedural generation that makes it feel like you're uncovering the hidden history of a truly ancient world. Between the linear main plot and the generated stories of the sultans, you could turn off permadeath and have an experience on par with many modern RPGs without even doing the proper roguelike part.
