I bought this game four years ago.
I also promptly forgot about it. I forgot so hard, that I didn't make a review.
The alpha was better, no contest. It felt like a real game, rather than a demo over and over.

As much as it pains me to say it, don't use your money on Cube World. It's not the amazing game it was pre-release.

This is the earliest game I remember 100%'ing. It's amazing.
The graphics are just fine, by today's standards, but they've aged very well.
The gunplay is fun and responsive, and enemies are pretty varied.

That said, the game is short. You can reasonably 100% it in about 8 hours. Great game though, definitely recommend it.

I tried. I tried so hard to like the new update.
You've likely already read it close to ten times, but I was one of the old players. Moderately old, not one of the founders. I downloaded the game through the Dauntless website, the first time.
I didn't really start playing the game until Reforged, and I enjoyed my experience.

But they killed all variety in this game. I tried to like the update, but there's not a lot to like. Literally.
The weapons, gone. Crafting, gone. The Middleman and any cells above +1, gone. So what, there's a new Behemoth? People don't want to play until they get to it.

Forte Labs are at fault. Not Phoenix Labs.
Crash and burn, Forte. Even though I know you won't.

This game slaps harder than new games. It is an amazing experience, with infinite build possibilities, and honestly an amazing atmosphere. Get it. :gun:

This is the third time I've tried making this work on the Valve Index. Nowhere does it say that you cannot use an Index.
The discord group misled me to thinking it could work on an index, it cannot.
If you're using a Valve Index, skip this game.

Let me start out by giving this masterpiece of a game a generic rating on a scale of 0 to 10. Taking my feelings and emotions about the game at the moment of writing this, having just completed the game.. I want to say that Inscryption is a 12 out of 10. But, thinking about it more, and really debating why I think this, I see the flaws that this game has.

The pros:
Inscryption allows for a very freeform playstyle. There is no meta, but there is minmaxing. You can make one, singular creature so strong that it cannot die, or you can spread the power, allowing for a consistently good hand.
This, coupled with the large variety of strategies, the emotional elements of some select cards talking, giving them souls and emotions, along with the fact that each time you die, something changes, grants a very fluid experience. No two runs will be the same without you deliberately seeking out a specific playstyle.

The music. It's amazing. The tracks are clearly made specifically for one use, and they perfect it. Every game is improved with a good soundtrack, and Inscryption? It's no exception.

The cons:
The game has a very, very steep learning curve. The early game may feel frustrating, even unfair! You have to learn everything the hard way, and then, finally, when you think you're about to succeed.. you miss that one incoming damage that kills you. It sucks. But, it's part of the experience. And without it.. would there be any satisfaction in besting the hardships?

While, yes, this is a very loose and perhaps even uninformative review, I do hope that you learn something from it. And, perhaps, you'll even buy the game due to this review.
The game is amazing. The story is.. mindblowing. And the ending.. Oh, the ending. It made me tear up, over a character I did not think I liked.

This game, Inscryption, is my choice for the game of the year.
Daniel Mullins, if you by some miracle read this, I want to say thank you. Thank you for the amazing game, and for an experience that I want to return to, even after completing it.

This game is abandoned. I used to recommend it, but I can't do that in good faith anymore.
This game is not worth any amount of money.

This game is an absolute amazing one, there's never a lack of builds you can, well, build, no lack of bosses either.
The progression system is great, you can get the items you want, when you want - to an extent.
If you find yourself wanting to try something sandbox-kill-bosses-like, this is the game for you, as even if you run out of bosses or events to beat, there's a tireless modding community that surely has what you need.

So in short, the building is great, 8/10, not enough materials.
The combat is rewarding, 9/10, it's the most fluid combat system I've ever tried.
There's enough replayability and content for a lifetime if you look for the right mods, 10/10, still better with friends though.
Modding is incredibly easy for consumers - this isn't touching the creator side - 10/10, it has an IN-GAME mod browser!

Final verdict is;
A stellar 9,25. There simply isn't a better relaxation or boss grind game, depending on what you play like. So buy the game, get some friends along, and have fun!
