I was a bit worried this would be a mediocre game banking on nostalgia like Strafe was. Luckily, this game can fully stand on it's own. It's more of a spiritual successor to old school FPS than the likes of Painkiller or even Doom 2016. Those games loved locking you in arenas while enemies spawned in. Dusk has arenas to fight, but nothing is stopping you from rushing through the entire map. There's secrets, sprawling levels, and hardly a story to speak of.

Pros
-The game feel: Videos don't do justice to how tight the controls are and just how good it feels to play
-The levels: Absolutely best levels in any single player FPS. Episode 1 starts out pretty basic, but by episode 3 your jaw will have dropped.
-The music: The soundtrack lines up perfectly with what the player is feeling. The music rocks out when fighting through an arena and is unnerving while exploring claustrophobic cave without a flashlight.
-The enemies: The game slowly introduces new enemy types, and they're all worth the wait.
-The aesthetic: The game is low poly and low res, but it works. More is left to the mind to fill in, and so this game can scare me more than many AAA games.

Cons
-The weapons: The only part of this game that isn't inventive is the weapons. It's standard fair and you can find every weapon very early on.
-Bullet sponge enemies: While the enemies are cool, some take too much punishment. They don't show signs of damage or get stunned, so your weapons feel very weak shooting them.
