Early Access Review
Its early access so there is a lot of room for the studio to improve things a lot. But currently I do not recommend the game. First: there are no ships. It should be called "Big Boats at Sea". I know the larger boats technically weigh enough to be regulated as a ship in the USA, but that technicality doesn't fly for game expectations. I want my Maersk 20,000 TEU containership if they are going to call it Ships at Sea.

It tends to be controller-centric, so my fancy hardware does not work with it. The boat has a throttle. I have a throttle. Can I use my throttle for the boat? No. I can't take any simulator seriously that doesn't support simulator hardware.

Its basically just Fishing Simulator II, which it does fairly well. But it's not Ships at Sea.

Yet another "simulator" that doesn't support hardware. Trains have a throttle. I have a throttle. Can I use this throttle in TS5? No. This is insane. Do like American/European Truck Simulator, and make it so we can use *anything*. Stop pigeon-holing PC gamers with console gamer hardware.

I tell people The Isle is the most-content-least-content game there is. Basically all you do is run around and eat and drink, but just that entails a lot of fun, between hunting with your pack, and PVP action. Its cool to see the Evrima branch really coming into its own.

I just hope when they add humans it doesn't ruin the gameplay.

I like sandbox engineering games, and this is hands-down the best engineering game I've found, and I'm looking at you Kerbal and Space Engineers...

As of the version 1 release, it feels like it has a way to go to be a fully refined and comprehensive game, but even in it's current state if you like to design machines to solve problems (and Search & Rescue gives you problems!) then truly this is the game for you. Yes it's a bit complex to learn how to design the sub-systems, but it is well designed and learning it is highly rewarding.
