I'm almost certain I'll never play another game like this in my lifetime. Many will be like it and invoke similar feelings, but this one is an absolute masterpiece. It starts slow and little boring but once you begin to scratch the surface of the mystery, it hooks you. As others have mentioned, DO NOT look up any guides, reviews, etc. before playing it. It's best experienced for yourself. I will say I had some trouble with parts of the DLC that I did look up guides for, but it was still a great experience.

TLDR: If you like exploration and piecing a mystery together as you go (not to mention fun space flight mechanics) then get this game and isolate yourself for a while.

PS: Use auto-pilot with caution. I crashed into many many things before I understood when to use it. You'll know what I mean later.

I greatly enjoy this game and would recommend it for single-player, multiplayer, and online matchmaking. They all work really well and you're even given a drone to assist you in single player if you prefer to play that way and it works really well. I do have my gripes about the game but they aren't enough to kill it for me.

Pros -
Sound effects and Music are *chef's kiss*

Classes and abilities/weapons are varied enough that each class feels different and fulfills a specific role. Thankfully not enough to make multiplayer a must.

Increased difficulty and random events are rewarding.

Certain beer gives buffs and you can unlock special beers with silly effects.

Promoting (prestige) a class just resets the level, not the upgrades you've bought for it. Promoting is just a vehicle to increase your account level and get more assignments for cosmetics.

Cons -

The end game is fun but limited. Deep Dives are 3 back-to-back missions and give specific rewards. However those rewards pertain to random events and can be a bit frustrating to grind out since you never know if you're getting what you need or something useless.

There are 8 mission types. That sounds like a fair bit but they get repetitive decently quick and some are way more of a chore than others.

The game can get stale quick once you've got most things unlocked and upgraded.

Overall this game has its flaws, but I'd rather buy this game 15 more times for friends and play with them than spend a single dollar on most AAA titles these days. The devs put a lot of love into making the game funny as well as fun to play. Plenty of easter eggs to find as well.

Early Access Review
I've never written a review for any of the 406 games I own until now. While this game definitely has a lot it needs to fix and update, I've never had this much fun. It's tedious as all hell but with a friend, it blows everything out of the water. It's peaceful and painful at the same time. Seeing a part of the ecosystem die made me actually hate that I was the one that made it happen. Building my house and getting all those ingots suddenly seemed like a horrible idea, but I knew I had to keep going just to save everything else from the same from if the meteor hit. Now, there are definitely some flaws and glitches in the game still (Looking at you, fish!) but it's easy to forget all of that in the grand scheme of things. I got the game yesterday and feel like I've only played for about 2 hours but according to steam, i'm at 13 hours. Where did that time go?! I'll tell you where, building. Everything in this game is fun and new and in depth. If you're planning on playing this solo, I wouldn't really recommend it. If you and a few friends are considering this, DO NOT WAIT! Get it now and kiss the next week or so of your life goodbye.
